Lancang Jingmaishan Xiangyun La Homestay

The location had great views over the valley, including the early morning sea of cloud. The property has a rooftop lookout that our group could get together to enjoy the view. It helped that our taxi could drive through the narrow road of Mengben village and deposit us and our luggage on the doorstep of the homestay. This is unlike Wengji & Nuogang villages, where cars are not allowed to enter the village but deposit visitors at the village carpark. The hospitality of the owner/hostess was remarkable. She had a Pu'er tea table and made us endless cups of different tea all grown in her farm, explaining their differences and virtues. She did not charge us a cent for the whole experience. Neither did she try to hard sell the tea leaves although we did buy a small amount off her because we enjoyed the tea. She is a good cook and whipped up breakfast and lunch for us.

Exceeded all my expectations of a boutique homestay with only six rooms . Ultra luxury linens and beddings , ,Panasonic view of sea clouds at the confer of your bath tub , tasteful contemporary chinese interiors , and to top it all , run by a simple humble couple who goes to ends to make your stay a comfortable one . When you stay for 3 nights or more , they cook up a storm of local delicacies for your dinner , on top of daily breakfast! Do be prepared breakfasts are local style . Bit there’s a great cafe nearby service Arabica yunna beans and it’s become one of my fave ! Def great value for money !

The treehouses at Ctrip Holiday Farm boast breathtaking, elevated views, offering a sweeping panorama of the terraced fields and farmland below. The scenery is truly idyllic. Inside, the treehouses feature new, modern facilities and are impeccably clean. The entire staff is incredibly warm and hospitable, always going above and beyond to assist guests. A special commendation goes to staff member Zhao Zhen, who personally guided us to the adjacent Laodabao village. His passionate and professional explanation of the Lahu ethnic minority's history was delivered with such eloquence that it left a profound and memorable impression on us.

When visiting Jingmai, Wengji is a must-stay. Among the ancient villages, it's the largest and most worthwhile to explore. You can base yourself here, drive to other villages for a quick look around, and then return to Wengji to enjoy tea and unwind. Our 3-day, 2-night stay nestled in the mountains was incredibly comfortable, delightful, and truly unforgettable. The balcony room offered breathtaking sunset views, and the resident dogs were very friendly. The host was incredibly welcoming, always inviting us for tea. If they weren't around, we were free to brew our own – honestly, any tea from the local mountain farmers was fantastic! Parking is available in the courtyard, and it's a very convenient walk into the village.

Really recommend staying here! We booked this hotel last minute, and were really happy with our stay! We were welcomed with delicious local tea. The hosts helped us rent an electric bike which was perfect for seeing the surrounding villages and ancient tea forests. They were very helpful since we don’t speak any Chinese, but this wasn’t a problem at all. The area is really beautiful and special and Jingmai is one of our favorite places in China so far. The room itself was spacious, new and very clean. Breakfast was delicious.

The photos were taken during the holidays in the village and at home. This is Captain Lao Dabao's home, also the chairman of Lao Dabao Entertainment Company. He's super nice! It's very busy, with lots of guests every day, but the chairman is always very kind and even cooks for us himself. The room was really clean! Although it's an inn, it was very comfortable. We slept in a triple room, which Zhang Yuqi and her friends from Sister Lang had also stayed in before! Hahaha, I've finally stayed in a hotel with celebrities.

The boss is so warm and hospitable. Parking facilities are complete. Most importantly, the youngest daughter in the family, It's like an angel descending into the world. Very good, the lady boss is very nice. Very good value for money.

Five-star review! This stay was fantastic! The guesthouse is easy to find, right at the village entrance. If you're driving, you can park at the owner's place, which is very convenient. The owner is a Bulang man, incredibly warm and hospitable. As soon as I entered, he invited me for tea, offering me his own colorful peanuts and black peanuts 🥜 to try. There were also wild thumb-sized bananas and yellow-fleshed guavas—I'd never seen them before! They were fragrant and delicious 😋. I also tried a local specialty, tea insect tea—it looked unappetizing, but the taste was amazing! It was very fragrant and delicious 👍. In the evening, we also drank his homemade corn wine, which was super delicious, smooth and slightly sweet. Listening to him tell Bulang stories felt like visiting an old friend; there was no sense of unfamiliarity at all. The room was clean and tidy. My favorite part was the large floor-to-ceiling window. I was on the first floor, so the view might not have been the best, but for this price, lying in bed and seeing the blue sky, white clouds, and green trees was so soothing, and the natural light was excellent. The room had disposable towels and disposable toilet seat covers, which is rare in guesthouses and hotels. It was a lifesaver! The owner also took me to the mountains to pick mushrooms and wild chestnuts. The experience was amazing! However, these kinds of activities depend on the owner's mood. I highly recommend it.

I rarely write accommodation reviews, but this time I really want to give a shout-out 😊 Our stay at Guesthouse No. 56 in Wengji Ancient Village was exceptionally comfortable! The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was soft, and the view from the window was breathtaking – endless tea plantations and a sea of clouds. The owners, a husband and wife, are the same age as us and we had a lot to talk about. They sell tea and run a guesthouse, and even during the busy Chinese New Year period, they drove us around the sights for free, saving us the trouble of not knowing the roads and finding parking! They invited us to drink tea and chat, sharing our lives and experiencing authentic Bulang ethnic life. Although there was no breakfast, there were small shops nearby, which was very convenient. Wengji Ancient Village was our favorite of all the villages we visited in Jingmai Mountain, and I sincerely hope that no matter how long it goes on, it can maintain its simple and honest folk customs and touching scenery, and not be eroded by commercialization!

All the reviews are true, but it’s not the wooden building that causes it.  Yes, it is very loud and you hear everyone. We’ve stayed in other fully wooden places, it’s worse here. Maybe not the wood but the guests are the problem. Loud Chinese people, walking the stairs with the heaviest pace you can imagine. Maybe help the other guests by hanging some warnings on the stairs: please be mindful for the other guests when walking to your room.  Also loud Chinese tourist on the square below. Not only while eating they scream all over the place, also with the tea ceremony nobody asks them to please stop talking after 23:00/24:00. We were up till 02:00AM because of tea drinking Chinese people at the fire. We stayed in the suite, which is located above the fire pit. Maybe the other rooms are less noisy. At 7AM each morning, somebody ran down the stairs. We think it’s the staff. It wakes you up through your earplugs.  The staff is OK. They are very shy, not rude. They could be more pro active though as we didn’t feel like they wanted to do something.. which is different to rude but also not very friendly.  The other villages around are way bigger and less cozy than Wengji. Also, with this guesthouse being just next to the town, it was perfect to escape the tourists most of the time. We didn’t find other accommodations in Wengji with the same aesthetics as Shishi guesthouse so we can’t recommend other places better than this. Maybe if the guesthouse would invest in trying to keep the noise down under the various guests, with text signs or with clearer house rules (fire pit), the noise problem wouldn’t be as bad.  Maybe if they tried to enthusiast their staff more and keep them from watching Chinese drama shows on their phones all day, they would be a bit more welcoming.  We’ve met a lot of amazing people in Wengji, it’s definitely not the locals that have this behaviour.  Lastly, the suite has a cubicle bathroom in the room, they really don’t clean this well. It smells very bad and just feels dirty all over.  For comfort this place is too expensive, for the location and aesthetics you won’t find better options nearby.
