We stayed over the weekend of July 12-14. It was two friends meeting up in the middle- and Pawhuska was the perfect spot. We arrived on Friday evening and unloaded the cars before moving them to the parking lot. We found our room to be spacious and comfortable. We were in a Pioneer Suite and it was perfect for us. We used the kitchenette for our snacks and drinks (just bring your own!)- and leftovers from our meals. We’d sit at the two person table and chat- or wait while the other was getting ready. We used the bed and pull out- tip for fellow travelers- if using the pullout, sleep facing the opposite way! The A/C was amazing for the super hot weather. The barn door doesn’t offer much for sound privacy- but does for visual privacy. We both agreed- they used the space great! We just wish for additional seating for when the pull out is being used. The elevator was slow only during busy times (like checkout)- otherwise, it was great. Staff were always friendly and we enjoyed chatting with folks. Most everything is closed on Sunday- so don’t expect a meal at the Mercantile on Sunday at all. That’s ok- eat your leftovers in the fridge from Saturday for breakfast! We ate at P-Town Pizza for Friday night- short wait, but oh so worth it. We enjoyed our Not-Knots, Salad and Pizza. And strong, but yummy, adult beverages. We had a snack at Charlie’s Sweet Shop for ice cream. Delicious. We ate at the Mercantile for breakfast and dinner on Saturday. Honestly, we came for the food. And we were not disappointed. If I could have licked my plate after finishing my Chicken Fried Steak, I would have. It was amazing and I could cut it with a fork. For breakfast, the yogurt parfait was delicious and leftovers were perfect later that day. I would definitely go back to Pawhuska to eat at the Mercantile and I would stay at the Frontier Hotel!
