As soon as we left the car, I knew this place was something special. Everyone was so welcoming from the first glance to the last second, especially Pavi who kept talking to us throughout our stay. The whole hotel is based on a fishing village all on the beach, and I love getting sandy toes just walking to the pool or the restaurant. Every night, I found myself being pulled into a fun but very competitive game of beach volleyball, the staff even joining in! It is physically impossible to wipe a smile from Ruchira’s face, he is so enthusiastic and loves to get everyone involved, playing with everyone and making everyone happy. I made lots of new friends I never thought I’d make and we’re all still in contact. On the last night, we all played 8-ball pool, table football and lots of karaoke, all driven by Ruchira. I couldn’t get out of that pool, it was like a magnet for me. They let us all play pool games and even gave us balls and frisbees. I wouldn’t be surprised if we broke a world record on both the longest and the most people in a game of Piggy In The Middle. The sea was amazing too. We could get loungers by the pool or the sea where we could get really nice food delivered right to us. If you’re looking for a hotel in Passikudah, this really is a no-brainer. Please no one leave before I come back, every single person I met is amazing. Ayubowan

We recently stayed at Maalu Maalu and it completely exceeded our expectations. The setting is absolutely stunning – peaceful, right on the beach, and the hotel itself is beautifully designed. But what really made our experience unforgettable was the people. Every single member of staff we came across was kind, helpful, and genuinely cared about making our stay great. A special shoutout has to go to Ruchira, who our kids (aged 2 and 10) quickly renamed Uncle Bambi. He has a natural way with children – patient, full of energy, and always smiling. He made such a difference to our holiday, giving us time each day to properly relax knowing the kids were happy and entertained. They still talk about him! The pool team were also fantastic – they set up our sunbeds each morning, brought toys out for the children, and always checked in with a friendly chat and a smile. The front desk team went out of their way to help us extend our stay when we asked last minute – not an easy job, but they did all they could to make it happen. And the restaurant team were lovely – always on the go and nothing was too much trouble. The food was really good – my only suggestion would be to offer more of the delicious local dishes and worry less about trying to cater to western tastes. The Sri Lankan food was a highlight for us! We stayed in three different types of room during our trip (deluxe twin, attic room, and a panoramic suite) and while all were great, we actually preferred the simplest one – the deluxe twin on the ground floor. It had easy access straight to the beach which made life much easier with a toddler. Evenings were relaxed and enjoyable, with live music and activities for the kids. It was the perfect mix of calm and family-friendly fun. Thank you to everyone at Maalu Maalu – you made our time in Sri Lanka so special. We’ll definitely be back!

The hotel experience, as well as the accommodations and convenience, was just the best I have seen from Sri Lanka, Definitely a “MUST - VISIT” if you pass Passikudah, thank you to Maalu Maalu, the staff, especially the front desk staff, for the very fortunate experience you have brought us. Special shout out to Thasneem, Kanthi, Laksham, Gayatri, Senthuram for making my family’s experience nothing short of the best, you guys did amazing!
