The food was good, the outdoor dining environment was comfortable, and we even received a souvenir upon departure.
However, for a hotel priced at over 700 in a fourth-tier city, and with such a high 4.9 rating, the overall experience was far below expectations.
Firstly, it's the first time I've encountered such an expensive room rate without a dedicated butler service. No one reached out to me via WeChat throughout my stay, and there was no phone in the room, meaning I had to go down to the front desk on the first floor to find a staff member.
Upon arrival, no one offered to help with our luggage to the room.
When trying to order crucian carp, they consistently refused, insisting on recommending crucian carp with rice. The female front desk staff member was quite assertive.
Secondly, the sleep experience was very poor. We came seeking the tranquility of the countryside, but were woken up at 8 AM by the sound of drilling from nearby construction. It completely ruined our initial intention of relaxing. I also mentioned this to the gentleman who seemed to be the owner at the tea counter, but he simply brushed it off with a casual remark and left. His attitude towards guests was also rather cold.
For breakfast, the taro was rotten and smelled bad! They don't have heated buffet equipment; all the food is served in regular plates. What's more, guests were required to wear masks when getting food. Their own equipment is inadequate, yet they expect guests to accommodate them!
Finally, the check-out experience was not good. We had planned to have lunch at the restaurant at 11:30 AM. Just as we were about to order, the same female front desk staff member informed us that we had to check out by 12:30 PM, so we decisively gave up on having lunch there.
At over 700, the price is already on the higher side for Kaiping, but it didn't match the corresponding service quality and living experience. The value for money is a bit low. I definitely won't be staying here again. Next time, I'll try Lazy Cat.

GGuest UserWe just had a very nice two-night stay here while visiting all the diaolou of the area. The location is excellent, about 2km from Zili and walking distance to Li Yuan. Other diaolou clusters are 10-20 mins away. The service was friendly and so helpful during our whole visit. They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. We enjoyed beef noodles and tea eggs for breakfast the first day and then a simple buffet breakfast the second day of congee, sweet potatoes, noodles, corn. The room was really nice, very high tech and comfortable. The beds were a little hard for us. That was the only negative. We loved the outdoor space with lots of room to hang out during the day and evening. Overall, an excellent stay in Kaiping.

Service: The staff are very enthusiastic, and the breakfast is exquisite. There are also bicycles provided for getting around nearby. Liyuan is right next door, very close, and Zili Village is not far, about a 15-minute bike ride. The guesthouse itself is very unique; it used to be a temple and a school in the front, and residences in the back. Staying in a Diaolou (fortified multi-storied watchtower) feels like a dialogue with time and space – truly a great experience, highly recommended!

SStevan AntonijevicStay in this hotel was good. Rooms are clean, everything looks new. The stuff was very nice and polite. They spoke a bit of English with us. But anyway, everything was clear and ok.
Breakfast is poor, it is a buffet, but not much to offer. Food was fresh and the restaurant was clean and new. But they only had noodles, couple of different vegetables, eggs, some bread options and that's it. Hotel is not that big, not so many guest and it is not crowded. Which was good.

AAnonymous UserThe room was nice, and the facilities for children were excellent. My only minor gripe was that for a room costing over a thousand, there weren't any complimentary snacks. Everything else was great! I was especially delighted that they provided children's pillows!
The hotel's breakfast was quite average, not particularly tasty. We went on a Saturday, so the breakfast area was incredibly crowded.
The hotel is split into two buildings and also has playground facilities, which is a nice touch. Everything in the hotel feels new, and the cleanliness is decent. However, we stayed on the first floor, and our balcony was right next to the road. If you didn't close the door, privacy was quite poor. There was no frosted glass or anything, just plain transparent glass.
I'll share some real photos to give you an idea. I'd definitely choose this hotel again! I hope my review helps you with your decision!

It also boasts a swimming pool and a cafe, making it ideal for a relaxing, laid-back family vacation where you can truly unwind. Several attractions are nearby; Zili Village Diaolou is within easy walking distance, and it's also very close to Chikan Ancient Town. The service was excellent. We'll definitely invite friends and come back again next time.

GGuest UserThis is the only family-friendly hotel in Jiangmen's Chikan Ancient Town. I looked around for a long time and finally decided on this one. The reviews on Dianping seem pretty good. Personally, I think the hotel's ambiance, cleanliness, and location are all fine, but the service is terrible. When I checked in at the front desk and asked questions, they basically told me to scan a QR code to check. When I asked where the fireworks were, they said, ”Scan the QR code to check.” Then, when I asked what time, they said, ”Scan the QR code to check.” Completely irresponsible responses. I know I'm too lazy to ask, but I just broke a nail and asked if they could find me a nail clipper. They said, ”Go upstairs and get it if you meet the lady.” Such a perfunctory response. What if I don't meet the lady upstairs? I still have to go to the front desk. And then there's the bed guard I reserved in advance... And then there's another important issue. The lady delivered something to the room, knocked on the door, and then just used the room card to open the door herself. I was shocked! It was the first time I'd ever encountered something like that. A friendly reminder: Don't be naked when you check in, remember to close the door when you shower, and especially don't mess around in the room. Auntie will be watching you do it.
Also, the outlet in the middle of the room is raised and hidden behind the carpet, so be careful. I tripped and fell a few times.

CcivillawliThe room was clean and tidy. The air conditioner was turned on in advance, and it felt cool and comfortable as soon as I entered. There is a big yellow orchid tree in the yard, and the flowers are fragrant. The view is the green fields, which is pleasing to the eye.
The restaurant's food tastes good, but the reception capacity needs to be improved during holidays. It is a bit busy to handle too many people.

Being within walking distance of so many attractions made exploring a breeze. And when I got hungry, the abundance of great food options nearby was the cherry on top. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay.
It's in rural area and rides may not be to easy to get after 10pm. If you plan to return late to the hotel, be sure to know how to contact the hotel just in case the front desk is closed. Sorry to wake you at the middle of night boss lady!

YYingdeyingxingeThe hotel service was excellent, but the room design was extremely minimalist, and the facilities were quite basic. The most perplexing thing was the complete lack of heating. Although Guangdong is generally warm, heating is still necessary in winter, right? The buffet was very good, with excellent quality, and the freshly made rice noodle rolls were a delightful surprise! The room rate included admission to Chikan Ancient Town Tourist Area, which, whether it's the performance design, the overall park construction, the decor, the preservation of cultural relics and ancient buildings, the promotion of Chikan's culture and tourism, or the popularization of historical knowledge, is absolutely top-notch in China! It's perfect for school autumn excursions and party-building activities. The value for money is exceptional; the park is huge, taking two days to explore completely, and the design is fantastic. There are plenty of restrooms, and they are very clean, with an elegant mosaic design that feels high-end and tasteful. The snacks in the park were unforgettable. The ingredients were simple, but the quality was outstanding. I ate Hua Xing Claypot Rice three times, and the fresh, soft, sweet tofu flavor of the Tofu Corner was so good I packed several portions to take home. The prices were reasonable, and the taste was first-class! The water dance performance theater can only be described as breathtaking! The fireworks seemed endless! The high-level, realistic replica of the Qilou background, the magnificent scene effects combining water and fire, and the superb acrobatics and dance performances were all incredibly enjoyable! Being in the park felt like traveling back to the Republic of China era, a dreamlike and somewhat surreal experience! Whether it's value for money, performances, park design, or service, it completely surpasses other theme parks, including the exorbitantly priced Disneyland.
