Super 8 by Wyndham Park Rapids

This was a nice motel. Clean. Everything met our expectations.

Everything was clean etc. Not much for breakfast. Some things were being improved as new owners I guess so am sure things will get better.

We needed a hotel room last minute and was pleasantly surprised how clean this place was. Breakfast was simple but adequate.

No-frills, spotlessly clean hotel that does as much as possible with what they have, despite what they *don't* have, i.e., no pool, no workout room, no fancy area for a big morning breakfast. But they DO SERVE a little breakfast, and it's not bad (waffle station, some kind of main dish like a breakfast sandwich or biscuits and gravy), toast, cereals, yogurt, fruit. One of the best things was the personable young woman who checked us in, Kim, who gave us good suggestions on places to eat, had a friendly greeting every evening when we returned, and in general made us feel like we were special guests. All the workers we encountered were quite friendly. The only negative was that we weren't aware that our room wouldn't be made up daily -- the small notice affixed to the bathroom mirror was hard to see so we didn't notice it until later. And by "made up" I mean have the beds made, trash taken out, coffee service replenished, and used towels replaced. We didn't need to have our beds changed or anything like that, but I do like to have a few basic services provided. We were there for four nights and no one from housekeeping came near our room in that time.

It's going to get better My first impression was Jenny. She was kind, friendly, and accommodating. While I did not get the room I had booked, (small oversight, no big deal) the room I got was sufficient for my needs aside from the shower. Jenny called me almost right away in my room to say she had made a mistake and could move me. I had started putting my things away and had my shoes off. My first impression of the room was the smell. It smelled like a military foot locker. Musty/moldy. There were holes in the wall (housekeeping said it was from racks that were there before), the Air Conditioning worked when it wanted to. The shower did not have a bar for me to use when getting in and out and the floor was a little slick in it. That being said, the bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body soap on attached to the wall were very nice, smelled nice, and were a convenient addition. I'm thinking about doing this in my own shower. The bed was uncomfortable, but not unbearable. Breakfast, THE BREAKFAST! That was outstanding and I was thankful for the croissant. While I do not intend to ever stay at this hotel again, the staff more than made up for the lack of upkeep the previous owners seemed okay with. I have high hopes for the new ownership at this location and am glad they're getting the right people in place to right the ship. Thank you.

Better than expected. Person that checked us in was friendly. The room was decent and clean. Breakfast was a little skimpy, but there was a hot breakfast sandwich available. No fruit, hard-boiled eggs, or toppings for oatmeal, which would have been nice.
