Regency on the Beach

We saw one cockroach on the first evening, then one more above our bed at 1am ! And another one in the toilet on the next morning. That’s unacceptable! Underneath the microwave was super dirty… Although we were booked for two nights, we had to move out the next day. We did talked to the front desk but no action was taken. I will never stay there again.

Absolutely appalling service from word go. When we arrived at 3.00pm reception was closed. Our check in information said "The front desk is open during the following times: Monday-Friday: 9 AM-4 PM Front desk staff will greet guests on arrival at the property" There was nobody to be seen and reception was locked up. We tried calling several numbers for after hours provided on the front of the property but both lines were not being answered or were disconnected. God forbid it wasn't an emergency situation!! We had asked for a rollaway bed for our son which wasn't in the room. Again when I tried calling the numbers provided but still no answer. Luckily a lovely lady who owns apartment there helped us and managed to track someone down after making numerous calls. If it wasn't for this lady's help and persistence to assist us trying to contact the building manager, we would not have had any help. She said this is a persistent problem with the property manager who lives miles away and is never there. We were at the stage of sleeping on some old outdoor sun lounger matts a neighbor said he could help with. When a rollaway bed finally arrived it was old and rusty and appallingly uncomfortable. Our son couldn’t sleep on it. Overall the experience at this place was terrible and ruined the end of our trip to the Gold Coast. Avoid this absolute rip off joke of an establishment at all costs!

Unfortunately, Regency on the Beach chose not to allow a credit or cancellation on a booking that I'm unable to attend due to doctor orders (and a medical certificate) stating I'm not allowed to fly. I was hoping to re-book ASAP but I think I'll be avoiding this hotel.

Loved: beautiful view from spacious rooftop the sound of waves from studio and location. Didn’t like: The reception desk on a weekend in this complex in a tourist area, only opens from 9-10am. Guests phone upon arrival at 2pm to obtain pin to open safe to find keys and paperwork. Several envelopes for different guest’s apartments were there. People could take anyone’s envelope. A guest who was waiting longer than us for a return call for his pin, reached in to obtain his. Where is the security in this procedure? During first phone call I discovered vehicle was too tall to fit in underneath car park. I was advised that I couldn’t park in any of the 5 visitor car parks …but on road. Continuous yellow line on public road – so NO parking was available. When phoning upon arrival I was told again that car can be towed away if I parked in visitor carpark. I stated that as paying guests for 2 nights we should have more rights over visitors for a carpark. Told them that we will be parking; gave rego number and said that we don’t want our vehicle towed away. Other guests could not believe this procedure exists and had never come across it before.

Definitely clean but in need of maintenance and replacement furniture (dining chairs broken and very old couch). Comfortable bed, plenty of space and lovely views.

We stayed in a studio with a ocean view, only a couple of things the shower door doesnt close properley the toilet seat is too small, but come here every year and we are happy staying at the regency
