Location: The hotel is situated in a stunning, remote area with breathtaking views, surrounded by beautiful nature and beaches. Guests enjoy a tranquil atmosphere with deserted beaches and lush jungle surroundings, making it feel like a paradise.(based on 1 review)

This is a 3 star hotel ( quality of instalations and service ) with price of 5 star and location of a 7 star. Basically only reason to stay in Bombom nowadays is the beautiful location . Price are not according to what you get. Service is in general very poor ( not employees fault but management incompetence) try to have a meal and have nothing to choose , to give example from few dishes to choose was carrot soup without carrot or hamburger as long not beef hamburger., so lunch was an omelette . Try to charge 350 euros because arrive at empty hotel at 8 a.m or wait till 2 pm. Breakfast will be better in any Novotel in Europe. For few years was not in Bombom but in past was a great place to stay with proper chef and great breakfast. Rooms are basic and with poor decoration and restaurant is no more than a space with cheap furniture amd no decoration at all. So only thing they didnt manage to spoil was the wonderful location .come prepared for fact that prices are 650 + is nothing to do with the hotel or service just with the beach.

To be clear, we did not spend any nights at this resort. We were staying elsewhere (at something we could actually afford). We were only daytime visitors, paying a 6 euro entrance fee. So my review is only based on our one-day visit. Upon arrival, we were taken in an electrical bus through the rainforest to the resort. We took a lunch at the restaurant and unlike some of the other people's experiences here, our food was great and quickly served. Then the beaches.. the resort has beaches on both sides, we saw maybe 2 people at some point, for the rest the beach was ours. One side had a calm sea, the other had some waves which we enjoyed quite a lot. Took the stroll over the bridge to the little Bom Bom island, where we took a hike. Strolled back and had another dive into the ocean on one of the isolated beaches. I can't review it as a hotel guest but as daytime visitor this was the best 6 euros ever spend.

It's difficult to review this hotel fairly. The first thing to say is that Principe is staggeringly beautiful. Honestly the most amazingly stunning place I have ever been, and I have never seen anywhere so beautiful and so little-developed. We took a boat-ride down the west coast and for a solid hour, all you see are deserted beaches, thick jungle, and towering cliffs behind. The sole development visible on the shore was a tiny fishing village: otherwise, Praia Sundy is hidden in the jungle, and Bom Bom itself is pretty well hidden too. It honestly looks like the setting for Jurassic Park or The Lost World. The nature is gorgeous too: there are birds of prey in the sky, kingfishers and yellow weaver-birds flying about, crabs everywhere and lots of sealife visible from the beaches. We did a hike to a waterfall which was great, and turtle-watching in the evening was unforgettable. Principe is definitely a hassle to get to, but without jetlag from Europe it didn't feel too arduous. Bom Bom itself has the most amazing location, on a headland with two long sweeping beaches on either side. Most of the time these beaches are deserted. The pool is on a raised area in the centre, with views to both beaches, and shade from towering trees. It's a lovely place to spend time. The rooms are very nice. Garden view villas seem to have sea-views through the trees, sea-view villas are raised high with direct ocean views, and beachfront villas are exactly that. The decor is good, they're all spacious and clean, the AC works well: it's been renovated very nicely. Where it gets complicated is in the restaurant. The resort is isolated: there's nothing at all nearby so you'll be having all your meals on-site, and honestly, by any conventional luxury hotel standards, it's really not good. Breakfast is a limited selection of pastries and cakes cut into weirdly small pieces, sweaty meat and cheeses, fruit swarming with flies, and some pots of yoghurt which have sometimes gone off. Lunch is really not great and best avoided. And then dinner. There's a named chef, I think from Portugal, and the menu reads well. It's fancy, with sauces and garnishes and so on. But the chef splits his time between the three HBD resorts and when he's not there, it kind of falls apart. You wait ages for a menu, and then there's only one per table. You wait ages to make your order. The food takes ages to arrive (easily 1.5 hours to get a starter and a main), and when it arrives it's pot-luck as to whether it resembles what you ordered. Fish appears as chicken. Starters arrive at the same time as mains for some at the table, and others get nothing. You might get two mains simultaneously. The food quality is variable: some is very good but some dishes are honestly inedible. I think the problem is that tourism is very new in Principe, and the staff are being asked to prepare and serve unfamiliar dishes in unfamiliar ways. That could work fine if they were closely

Hands down best beach on the island! The resort was light, colourful and absolutely gorgeous. Service was fantastic as well. The staff organized a surprise birthday dinner for my girlfriend and it was absolutely perfect. We can’t wait to go back!

Firstly, the good things: The hotel and more specifically the grounds/location are really stunning! You can see that great effort has gone into renovating the complex and maintaining it to a high standard. Staff were friendly and helpful (despite the presence of a communication barrier sometimes). The main concern: The one thing I would say needs work/substantial improvement however is the restaurant; in particular creating some sort of awareness of Food Safety and Hygiene.... A buffet with uncovered meats, fruits and dairy in 28 degrees Celsius for 3 hours, with all windows and doors open, is not appropriate; illustrated by the swarms of flies (i.e vectors of disease) around the food. The low point was on one morning, I cut a bread roll in half to make a sandwich also, to be horrified by the site of a larvae in the centre of the roll. None of this is safe, appropriate or acceptable in a hotel that charges "luxurious 5 star hotel" prices. The hotel has huge potential but unfortunately considerable work is still needed to justify charging such a price!

Beautiful location. Lots of birds and butterflies around and a lovely kingfisher that hangs out on the beach and visits the pool in the mornings for its bath! Rooms are lovely- big bed, lovely verandah with comfy chairs. Rooms were nice and cool and great A/C if you need it. Got checked in early which was great. Beaches are clean and safe. The views are stunning and the snorkeling is great! Good selection at breakfast. The service and consistency for food and drinks was our big issue. Service in restaurant on both nights was terrible. Food on the first night was good- although glad I got the passion fruit and vanilla sauce on the side of the fish because it was inedible! I ordered ice-cream- they brought creme brulee and when I asked they told me it was ice-cream! On the second night it took 1 hour to get anything! I mean no wine, water, bread for a whole hour. All the food came out wrong to all the tables. Fish tartare, which was lovely the first night was inedible- mushy and not fresh. Ice-cream tasted of garlic. In fairness to the hotel, they took the food off the bill, but I would have preferred a nice relaxing meal and pay for it! I would consider bringing some instant ramen if staying again. Service in pool bar on second day also terrible! Ordered a cocktail the first day- lovely. Same cocktail on the second day and it was totally different. My husband waited about 15 mins for a cocktail and eventually had to cancel because the staff did not know how to make it. Pool towels are horrible- small and dirty colour. Also took hours for them to come in the mornings. Overall the resort is very nice, but you really need to manage your expectations about the food and service- it is probably aligned with a hotel you would pay €40 for in other countries. In fact- we have never had worse. The manager needs to get some experienced people in to train staff and rethink the ipad ordering system- it is not working!

Currently closed for refurbishment. Boat trip took around the resort and beaches and major refurb is in progress. Spoke to a waiter at Sundy Praia who previously worked at Bob Bom and thoroughly recommended it. No idea when the resort will be open again.
