Skinkikofi Guest House ★★★★
"Besides that i had to spend all night awake killing about 2 dozens of mosquitos te room was OK"
Laborie Estate ★★★
"We were excited to return to Laborie after its extensive renovation. We were not disappointed - the gardens were beautiful and all looked very welcoming. We were directed to our villa which was a short drive from the main house to a corner of the estate. Initial feelings were that we were slightly isolated from the main centre and it was a ten minute walk back to the restaurants and bar. Our room however was large and very tastefully decorated- there is no questioning the quality of the furnishings although we were disappointed that there were no feather pillows - we both slept badly in the ‘cheap’ hollow fibre pillows and woke up with stiff necks. More disappointing was the complete lack of any toiletries in the bathroom- no flannel, bar of soap, shower hat , cotton wool etc- absolutely nothing except bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. I am sorry but in a 5 star establishment such as Laborie this is the least I expect. I made my complaint clearly to reception on departure. In the evening we ate at the newly built Stoep restaurant. A beautiful setting looking at the mountains but unfortunately we had to move inside due to the chilly wind. We ordered wine which arrived immediately but our food order took nearly one hour . There appeared to be plenty of staff but no manager or leadership to take charge. Our waitress, though quite friendly was at best indifferent to what was going on and we got increasingly frustrated at the wait. The following day we took breakfast at the same restaurant and were told that ‘in-house guests’ were only allowed to order one dish and one drink from the menu. When I asked if we could have a glass of orange juice I was emphatically told ‘No’. This is utterly ridiculous and in a 5 star guest house, whether ‘ in house ’ or not is an orange juice really that much of an expensive extra? We waited 40 minutes for our coffee and had to get up a couple of times from the table to ask what was going on. Our food finally arrived - it was nicely prepared and presented but we had waited so long that the enjoyment of breakfast in the sun looking at the mountains quickly dwindled. So in conclusion- would we return? Sadly I have to say that until the necessary tweaks have been made the answer at the moment has to be’No’."

Vendome Wine Estate ★★★★
Nantes-Vue ★★★
"A Heritage Stay with Heart: Discovering Nantes-Vue Guest House, Paarl Nestled on Paarl’s historic Mill Street, Nantes Vue is more than a place to stay—it is a journey into the rich tapestry of the Cape Winelands. Behind its graceful Cape Dutch façade lies a story that stretches back to 1692, when the original Nantesvue farm was granted to French Huguenot settler Jan Coleman, making it one of the earliest farms in the Paarl region. From the moment you arrive, the property exudes old-world charm. High ceilings, heritage architecture, tranquil gardens and carefully restored spaces create an atmosphere that feels both elegant and welcoming. The historic homestead, believed to date from the 1820s, has been lovingly preserved while incorporating the comforts modern travellers expect. L What makes Nantes-Vue particularly appealing is its versatility. Whether you are a couple seeking a romantic Winelands escape, a family attending school events in Paarl, a group of friends exploring the region’s wine routes, or business travellers looking for a character-filled alternative to a hotel, the guest house offers accommodation options to suit every need. Spacious en-suite rooms, a charming garden cottage and a generous self-catering loft provide flexibility without sacrificing comfort.Jetsetting with Janet"

Lemoenkloof Boutique Hotel
"We recently stayed at the Lemoenkloof Boutique Hotel in Paarl, and what a lovely experience it was! Friendly and attentive staff, comfortable stylish rooms and the gardens are stunning. I would love to see it when the Clivias are in full bloom. As mentioned by so many people, the breakfast is exceptional. Overall, our experience at Lemoenkloof Boutique Hotel was fantastic."
Val du Charron Wine & Leisure Estate
"I’ll make this simple: 1) Pizza was OUTSTANDING!! 2) Atmosphere, Music, Views, Service—-Amazing! 3) The Wine? I defy you to find a better, more consistent, wine. 4) Lodging is modern, quaint, and my GOD, COMFORTABLE! I can’t wait to return. 10 out of 5 stars."
Oude Wellington Estate
"Lovely last minute weekend getaway. Margaret was a great host. We enjoyed the historic charm of this estate. We stayed for 2 nights in the chalet (number 9) which was very comfortable and had lovely views. The chalet was very clean with nice linen and electric blankets. Dogs were super friendly and sweet. Also close enough to the town and beautiful hikes in the area."
Zomerlust Boutique Hotel
"I would rate my stay at Zomerlust as average. Unfortunately, my initial experience was not very welcoming. After a long two-hour drive, I had to wait nearly five minutes at the gate in 34-degree heat, with no response to the ringing phones or the gate bell. This was quite frustrating. However, once the staff arrived, their warm smiles and friendly demeanor quickly improved my mood. Overall, the staff at Zomerlust are very friendly and accommodating. However, the restaurant needs significant improvement. The waiting times are long, and the breakfast buffet was disappointing, with limited options and an unappealing presentation, especially the hot breakfast items. The rooms was very neat and spacious only the TV channels a bit dissapointing as only 4 of the 8 channels worked."
Diemersfontein Wine & Country Estate
"Place is under construction. Noice of grinding, smell of burning tiles as they are renovating. Restaurant is not functioning and if you have any mobility impairment delay your stay until you can be sure what you book. Have to acknowledge the staff who are trying to make the best of impossible situations. We are checking out earlier than planned"
