I have never before in my whole life seen such a beautiful beach

We stayed at the Paradis D’Ouvéa hotel in February 2024…The island itself is an absolute paradise, a place straight out of a cliché book and an absolute postcard.. look in any direction at any time and you will get a visual overload of beauty… The hotel however is a different story… this place is one out of two hotels on the entire island and by far the better one out of the lot. It is considered luxurious however, it need a serious cash injection in order to get serious TLC and undergo some major renovations… here are some of the points that truly need some attention our room, smelled rather funky of humidity and a dire need of fresh air. There is no internet in the rooms. There is no bell desk so you bring your stuff to your room… not a big deal but it is a big property The boardwalk to access the rooms gets covered with berries from the trees above when it rains and therefore becomes incredibly slippery and treacherous (see photo) The food at the restaurant is unbelievably expensive and mediocre at best… I don’t mind paying the equivalent of USD 38 for a plate of pasta but mine was downright inedible. The hotel feels like it is dramatically understaffed and the service at the restaurant is distant and robotic. They do however make good cocktails and you need to try their infused rum (local vanilla and lemon) All in all, there were a whole bunch of problems there but we chose to overlook them for the location is so remote and the surroundings are astonishing

We feel a hotel that was built 20 years or more ago, in a superb setting, with enormous potential, but which is sorely lacking in maintenance. This hotel is under private/public management (an SEM), it is not my fault of the managers who do what they can. The staff as well: despite the frankly aging rooms and the overall lack of maintenance, all the staff are attentive and frankly efficient. And the catering is really top notch. Including value for money. In short, a hotel with enormous potential, in an idyllic setting, with competent and pleasant staff, all that is needed is a little investment for it to be worth the price. thank you for everything

It's a very quiet place with a wonderful natural environment, but there is only one restaurant in the hotel, so you might get bored of it. For dinner on the second night, we went to Fassy, a 5-minute walk from the hotel, which was cheap and delicious.

Great location and wonderful views of the beach from our bungalow. Some facilities need maintenance while the table tennis table requires repair and no working balls to play it with. The breakfast was limited and not great quality, food quality is not at par and slow service at their restaurants compared to other establishments in the island with superior and very delicious menu options. They did not bring our luggage to our bungalow upon arrival which was odd but picked it up at check-out.

We stayed in a bungalow right in front of the beautiful ocean. There is nothing around, not even a convenience store or other shop, but it was very quiet and relaxing. A bar counter was set up in the evening, and we were able to drink not only wine, but also cocktails and draft beer. The juice we were given upon check-in was delicious, and we were very satisfied.

The hotel is very well located on the edge of a magnificent and very clean beach.🤩🤩🤩 We have made several stays at this establishment, and we have noticed over the years that it is aging badly 😫(and yet it has not only 24 years...) because no maintenance is carried out on the main building, the bungalows, the gardens (which are almost abandoned with a multitude of full bags and cut tree trunks on the ground) , and "decaying" wooden footbridges which lead to the accommodation.... without forgetting the broken benches in the reception hall🥵...!! The rooms are spacious and fairly well equipped, but the furniture and tiling are deteriorated mainly in the bathroom, or defective and poorly maintained, for example for the bedside lamps or the living room bench seat, and the blades of the ceiling lights have not been should not have been cleaned for years.... not forgetting the trunk which is useless since it has no batteries and is also not attached to the wall...!! Meals and breakfast are good and well presented. The staff is very kind and smiling, but sometimes lacks responsiveness or attentiveness. For all the services offered (accommodation, catering, drinks) the prices are too high, and the classification of the hotel as 4 stars is not at all justified😡....!!

It was my first time staying at Ouvea. They upgraded me from garden view to sea view (they didn't have twin rooms). It felt very local. The options and information given to me were different depending on the front desk staff. (You can ask a different staff member when you don't like anything.) The room was very spacious and comfortable. There were hibiscus flowers everywhere, which made me excited. It was the most luxurious vacation, right in front of the white sand beach and with almost no people around. The food was really not that great (especially the breakfast). The omelette was like it was mixed with flour, it was the first time I'd ever had such a bad taste. The fried eggs were the best. The price was quite high at night, but the decoration was nice. As expected, there were hibiscus flowers on display, so it looked good in photos. It was 2,050 Pacific francs per bicycle for a day. I tried riding it to the other side of the bridge in the evening, but it was a sports type and my butt hurt so I couldn't ride it for a long time. I wanted to use it the next day, but I stopped and asked to charter a car. The driver was very good, we went snorkeling around the island, and we also did some shopping, so we were very satisfied (I exchanged Facebook with Stephanie and I think I'll ask her again next time). The car charter cost 8,400 Pacific francs (about 10,000 yen) for two people, and took us to a shop for about 4 hours. I really liked the dress that a local woman was wearing, so I would like to have Stephanie take me shopping there again (I looked at a lot of things in Noumea, but I wasn't sure if they were good).

The place is superb but the hotel has aged and the rooms could do with a serious renovation. The staff is lovely, the food is very good, the buffet is great and the chef is very competent and very friendly.
