Summer Inn Motel - Newly Renovated, 2 Min Walk to Orewa Beach

I am struggling to write this review as it’s difficult to describe what I feel was a very strange experience. My partner and I stayed in a “unit” with 1 queen bed and 1 king single (Room 10). The unit was clean and had a range of supplies for the occupant re cooking/self catering. The ceiling was low and it felt like you were inside a box. It was obvious the room had very recently been renovated as the tiled walls still had grout residue on them. The workmanship of attaching the fittings/fixtures was somewhat ordinary with silastic and paint overspill, crooked fixtures etc. It was fairly clear the job has just been finished and may have been completed in a rush to get customers in. The unit smelt of paint and new carpet. I also feel the sheets were new from the packaging and had not been washed prior to putting them in the bed which makes it quite uncomfortable. Although internally refurbished the position of the room was down the side of the (very old) motel which didn’t present a positive appearance with paint splashes on concrete and external surfaces in significant need of attention. The unit faces out onto a busy road (noisy) the windows were lacking in security fittings - other units were located at the back of the complex. The new shower base filled up with water which took a significant time to drain away. Noise from the draining water and electrical equipment was obvious behind the headboard of the bed. The heating/cooling system was very noisy and hard to position away from the beds. If I had looked at the room prior to paying I would have walked away. As it was I should have requested a refund and found an alternative. The staff who showed us is was a very pleasant woman and very polite.

Spacious renovated room, free parking and close to the beach. Friendly staff too

Very old and should not be on your site. No air conditioning , hot weather. Noise from the street. Staff’s English was so poor could not answer a simple question.
