Emeraude Lodge

Beautiful lodge with great service. We loved the kayaks you could take out whenever you wanted. The pool was well-maintained and clean with crystal clear water. We arranged a snorkeling tour with them and everything was coordinated beautifully. It's a 15-20 minute walk to Andilana beach - very safe, passing many other tourist hotels along the way - it was a better beach for hanging out and other food options. We stayed in a stand-alone hut, which was cute and had good mosquito netting, though next time, I'd opt for a room with air conditioning.

Paradise spoilt Location of the lodge is real highlight. Right on the shoreline with the sea view on one side, three other sides face greenery of surrounding mangroves with water level changes wih tidal cycles. Rooms face the west providing joy of watching sunsets from private balconies. However, this nature's beauty couldn't translate into a holiday to remember due to reasons of humans making. Basic necessities of modern living such as electricity and water didn't go without interaption one single day during my 7 days stay!! WiFi was a bit better with problems experienced only every second day. A reasonable visitor prepares themselves for the next destination, but even 3 star hotel anywhere is expected to provide steady, reliable supply of basic tourists needs, which goes without saying. It looked like you pay averagee world standard price for Madagascar standard quality.

I was initially recommended by PADI Travel, however I then contacted Vincenzo via Whats App and he was so helpful with all my many queries, and the logistics of getting to them that I was very comfortable in booking. As the name suggests this is a lodge, it is not "close to the shops" but this is Nosy Be. I don't want to be close to the shops, It is a 20 min walk to Andilana Beach if you want some souvenirs, or an alternate place to eat. The bar and restaurant really did not require any alternate place to eat, different menus every day and it was great to try so many new things with the most amazing flavours. That said, the chef was extra flexible and accommodating and once I had tried the fish fillet I did manage to get that, and the amazing ice cream several more times when it wasn't on the menu. This was the break I needed. Dive Centre, Bar and Restaurant, fantastic accommodation and nothing was too much trouble. A nice peaceful location away from it all, but also within easy reach of the popular attractions which had all been arranged for me before I arrived. These were also very flexible and when I had to move things at short notice this was done with no trouble

A really lovely, clean and beautifully situated lodge, nr Andilana beach, that offered us stunning r&r (rest and relaxation) for a week. Photos online are accurate and so we weren't disappointed. Simple but clean and sufficient rooms with a useful bar fridge and very necessary aircon, each room with a beautiful balcony for sunset watching and useful mosquito nets inside. The outside dining and pool area were wonderful. Food was rather basic and the menu repetitive with occasional electricity outages not helping the kitchen's service on occasions, but on the whole we were happy. A real plus was having the owner Vincenzo assist very enthusiastically with the day excursions out to TOTALLY MAGNIFICENT Nosy Komba (with its lemurs!) & Nosy Iranja (with its paradise white sand and turquoise waters). Not cheap (at euro 90pp) but worth it for a bucket list experience. Vincenzo also offers an airport shuttle saving us hassles. Local currency (ariary) can be drawn at the airport ATM on arrival. Have cash on you for the (lovely) market at Nosy Komba. In all - a great week's holiday on a real (non commercialized) Indian Ocean island which we will remember for a long time to come. The tranquil atmosphere, quality facilities, helpful staff, spectacular views, scrumptious meals, among other things, added a sparkle to my experience that is incomparable to many other places I have visited. Except for one “day of doing nothing” (i.e. consisting of eating, tanning, swimming in the sea right in front of my room and sleeping in a hammock), I went on several day trips during my stay that were organised by the lodge. I was impressed by the interconnectedness of the lodge with the community during these trips. I would HIGHLY recommend ALL the trips that one can book via the lodge. The daytrips were super fun!! Thank you to Vincenzo and his team for making me feel welcome, and for going out of their way to make my stay superb! I highly recommend Emeraude Lodge! 11 out of 10!!
