What an experience!! The George Inn was everything I expected and more. The building itself is wonderful and presented an opportunity to glimpse back in history. It was fascinating to read about the Pitchfork Rebellion and the battle between the rebels and Government forces. This made staying in such an historic building come to life. Our room was great, the furnishings perfect and the bed super comfortable. All very well done, whilst retaining the authenticity of the building. We enjoyed a late Sunday lunch which was one of the best we have eaten in the last 5 years. Very well cooked and presented. Top Marks!! The breakfast was equally as good as the Sunday lunch, clean well cooked and presented Top Marks again!!! The staff were all friendly, welcoming and engaging. The service for breakfast was very well done, the ladies know how to look after you. Honestly a fantastic stay!! Things to note…. The beams in The Coach Room are fairly low, it comes with the age of the property!!! The road junction gets pretty busy from around 06:00….. you cannot escape that.

I was very impressed indeed - the staff are lovely, thoughful and attentive. The facilities had great historical charm while being modern and with excellent amenities throughout. The food was tasty and I appreciated the real ale (bitter) choices on tap.

Wonderful old Inn, very helpful staff and the Sunday lunch was amazing. Booked a table online for 3pm, plans changed and bringing the booking forward was no problem, very accommodating.

Thank you for such a lovely relaxed, pamper night away. So many little touches of thoughtful luxury and such friendly staff. It was only 1 night but we felt like we'd stayed away for so much longer. Such a refreshing break and recharge. Delicious food too, especially the Tandoori thighs with such succulent chicken and variety of flavours and textures of the accompaniments. Thank you again.

Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch in charming dining room next to a lovely warm log fire. Excellent food and wine and the service was exemplary. Perfect for our birthday treat - or any other time to make you feel special!

Fabulous setting, lovely food and attentive service. We really enjoyed our family visit and appreciated the children's menu and activity sheet which added to our peaceful meal in front of the fire.

We were a party of 10 and had a separate room (The Norton Room) which was a great setting. We all had the Sunday roast and were delighted with our choice as could be seen from all the empty plates. It made for a brilliant family meal out. Already thinking of booking for next year!
