I rarely leave reviews this strong, but my recent stay at the North Devon Resort was so poor and the handling of my formal complaint so disgraceful that I feel it’s only right to warn others. Accommodation – Unsafe and Dirty The first room we were given smelled strongly of smoke. Worse still, there were used tissues in the children’s wardrobe and a glass of cloudy liquid left behind. Reception moved us and offered a £20 food voucher, but the second room was barely any better. We found: A children’s bedroom door handle hanging off with nails exposed Another door damaged, as if punched through Broken wardrobes, an upside-down light switch, and a curtain pole hanging off Cobwebs, mould on the bathroom ceiling, filthy curtains, and dust in the light fittings Crumbs in the freezer, cracked tiles, and dirty cookware Sharp kitchen knives stored in a low cupboard — a serious safety risk for children The kitchen was missing basics like a frying pan, oven gloves, and tongs. The washing machine had no detergent, and the on-site shop was out of stock. Staff Behaviour – Inappropriate and Unprofessional While reception and maintenance staff tried to respond promptly, much of the wider staff behaviour was shocking. During entertainment, staff used inappropriate language in front of children and even taught one how to punch and kick. The same individuals were later seen racing motorbikes around the car park, narrowly missing other vehicles. The bar service was equally poor — a pornstar martini pitcher arrived missing key ingredients, incorrectly made with raspberry sorbet, only a quarter full, and no effort was made to correct it. Entertainment – Chaotic and Amateur The bingo session was a shambles. The caller repeatedly made mistakes (calling “all the fours – 40” instead of “44”), admitted she didn’t understand the ticket colours, and even restarted the game after someone had won — leaving the room confused and frustrated. Complaints Procedure – A Complete Failure Here is the most concerning part: I lodged a formal complaint on 10th August 2025 and was told I’d have a response within 28 days. Despite chasing on 8th and 15th September, and even contacting Richard Silver directly (who initially replied publicly on TripAdvisor asking me to email), I have had zero acknowledgement or response from the resort. This is a blatant breach of their own complaints policy and shows a complete lack of respect for guests. Final Thoughts What should have been a pleasant family holiday turned into a catalogue of unsafe accommodation, dirty facilities, and unprofessional staff. Worse still, the resort has ignored every attempt I’ve made to resolve matters. If you are considering booking here, my strong advice is don’t. There are far better, cleaner, and safer resorts in North Devon that actually value their guests. This is not just disappointing — it is unacceptable. Avoid this resort.

The staff were polite, the experience was fine however it was more down to the condition of the apartment that ruined it all a bit. The net curtains were very mouldy, this is a huge concern for health especially having a baby in there. The bedroom window was broken so it couldn’t be closed. The front door had a half inch gap under it, luckily it didn’t rain heavily that week! Oh and the electrical sockets/spurs above the sink are a wonderful addition for safety… Other than that, we enjoyed our time in N.Devon!

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the service and accommodation. Late check ins. Stayed in 3 bedrooms, spiders in each room, which kept returning, broken wardrobe, Leaking ceiling and dampness. The location and access to our Lodge was inaccessible due to 2 steep flights of stairs, no disability access. We needed disabled access room, but nothing was given. Receptionist shrug her shoulders and didn't know how to solve our issues. Very unpleasant stay. BE WARNED.

The staff were friendly, however the accommodation for the studio apartment sea view the beds were uncomfortable very tough matress and the sofa was uncomfortable could have done with some cushions on the sofa and two extra pillows, the kitchen equipment was very minimal to cook with, the monkey puzzle restaurant could do with a new menu not really much variety and very little entertainment during the week for guests

We came over easter and loved the cavery, so came back. It did not disappoint. Succulent meats, delicious veg and stunning gravy.
