The Open Arms Hotel

"Myself, my daughter and mum went for afternoon tea at The Open Arms, Direlton earlier this month using a voucher from a discount site. We were the first people in the hotel dining area and the we were met by a very nice staff member. We may have arrived a few minutes early as he was just finished mopping the floor, which is maybe not the best idea that close to a booking coming in, however he did dry up a pathway to our table for us very quickly. He couldn’t have been nicer or more polite. He took our drink order, checked our dietary requirements and told us our food would be through shortly. The dining area is lovely, lots of plants and well spaced tables, no one squeezing in next to us which was great. Our drinks were brought out within a few moments and we also got a small piece of tablet which was a lovely gesture. The food was brought out soon after and wow, what a spread! Sandwiches came on a separate plate then the stands came out with warm sausage rolls, mini quiche and haggis Bon Bon’s, my vegetarian plate was equally as good, as close to the standard range as possible. Then there were scones, cream and jam and the cakes - brownies, choux buns, macaroons and a little shortbread with a creamy mousse topping. Every single mouthful was beautiful, credit to the chef. We had more tea and coffees during our lunch and we were able to sit for a good long while just chatting and eating, we didn’t feel rushed in any way. We couldn’t finish all the goodies, despite trying really hard, so we were given little tubs to bring our leftovers away to enjoy later. It was a lovely afternoon and despite the fact we used a voucher we got the full experience, great food in a beautiful setting. We will definitely be back."

"Wonderful hotel in a great location. We walked everywhere, from dining to shopping to the Seabird Center. Breakfast was included with our room, and it was prepared hot and fresh to our order. Staff was also very helpful."
