One Holyrood Hotel & Cafe

The room is very small, only 1 chair, a very small TV and not even space for 2 people to sit together. The housekeeper came to our room every day even we stayed for 2 nights and we didn't ask to clean our room, we only found out after we came back at night which is shocking to us. However they didn't change the bedsheets, only cleaned the bathroom but didn't change the towels or refill the shampoo so I didn't understand the point of coming in our room before we check out. We also asked to have late check out but the housekeeper still came to our room at 10am on the day so it showed they didn't have proper communication. As for the breakfast, there're limited choices and you can only choose the coffee you want. It's pricey for what we paid for. The room & the hotel are very old, over 400 years so not enough lights. It's also noisy especially in the morning, you can hear the cars passing by.

It was an amazing 2-night stay! Will definitely coming back. A big thank you to all the staff and host of the hotel. God bless!

Character, tradition and friendliness An hotel which is being developed and upgraded. I stayed in a loft room which was at the top os steep stairs. Good breakfast

This hotel has taken £200 from my bank account without warning before my holiday started, after I was specifically told by telephone that nothing would be due until arrival. This is a serious breach of trust before my stay has even begun. I cannot even get through to them on the telephone now, so I am hoping someone will notice this review at the very least.

Went here for lunch. Gardens are lovely. Lunch was good but spoilt by under baked baguettes..tasted like part baked but not baked!! Coffee and salad were lovely such a shame

We went here for breakfast with another couple who had been before on numberous occasions during festival weekend, despite not staying there. We waited at the door as the sign advised and waited to be seen to a table. The busy waitress kindly said to find any free table, take a menu and order at the counter. Many tables had reserved signs on, and many were taken as it was particularly busy, but we found a table in the beautiful garden area and sat down. When my husband went in to place our order, he was greeted by the rather rude, fussy, matriarchal lady (clearly in charge!) who asked if we had made a reservation, to which my husband replied that we had not. He explained that we had been told that we could find a table anywhere. She was very brusque with him, and said that in which case, food would take longer to arrive. Time was not a problem for us, and actually, the wait wasn't that long at all, and our breakfasts were very tasty - you can't really go wrong there though. The younger, hard-working, polite waitresses were lovely in comparisson. It seems a strange policy to have in place when 'walk-ins' are clearly allowed. I've been to many 'posh' places, and have never been made to feel so unwelcome.
