The Swan Hotel and Spa

We stayed last night on a dinner, b&b and spa package bought for me as a gift for my recent big birthday so should have been a treat. Sadly not! I’m writing this review because so many people online say they have complained and get no response. They do seem to reply to these reviews though. We stayed in one of their ‘fabulous’ rooms, a very bold statement which couldn’t have been further from the truth! Decor so tired, damaged and dirty. Splatters all up the wall behind the bin. Windows that can’t stay open so had to be propped open with the cans of water. View lovely but let down by the poor state of the windows. Guest booklet and restaurant menu had obviously got wet and dirty at some point, allowed to dry and continue to be used all crinkly and dirty. Everything gives off the cba vibe. No pillow protectors on the bed so stained dirty pillows, please see pics to evidence all these issues. In this day and age why isn’t there a plug socket on both sides of the bed? Air conditioning simply doesn’t work anymore?! Ok for us but what about when hot and windows that can’t stay open! The shower was over the bath, the bottoms of the shower screen doesn’t touch the side of the bath, resulting in a soaking wet floor after you’ve showered. Having to step over the side of the bath with nothing to hold onto is an accident waiting to happen. Bath knob just came off in my hand. Toiletries provided but we both felt like we’d been dunked in sheep dip, removed all traces of any natural body oils! Would recommend you take your own, especially when the nozzle is all blocked with dried up gunky shampoo. No little amenity pack with shower cap, cotton buds or such, fairly standard in all decent hotels. No fridge which isn’t a deal breaker, just not great facilities. When we went down to the spa for our allotted time the receptionist was on the phone. Behind her in a cupboard/back room, were 2 members of staff sat on bags of laundry scrolling on their phones while ignoring me standing waiting. The receptionist noticed I was watching them and slid the door shut! Once in the spa there is nothing luxurious about it, cloudy water with scum floating on the surface. The seating area was anything but relaxing, felt like a waiting room. Just rows of loungers and seats. No little towels to sit on in the sauna. If you want a true spa day where you feel special and pampered avoid this place completely, go to the Low wood. They know how to run a spa!! No little touches, no extras, just plenty of corners cut. Our evening meal I have to say was nice, better than I was expecting. However breakfast the next morning wasn’t good. We were seated and asked if we’d like tea or coffee, 15 minutes later no sign. Asked again and then it was brought over. No teaspoons, off to hunt some spoons. I ordered bacon, mushrooms, beans and toast. What I got was bizarre and unpleasant. Warm bread with bacon on top, not toasted just bread, then a bizarre dollop of beans that had been mixed together with

Spent our afternoon at the spa, we both had the most relaxing time and really enjoyed ourselves! The outdoor lounge and bar area was new for us as it wasn’t here when we last came and we loved it!! A massage was included in our package and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves my therapist Carly was so kind and helpful! Thank you to everyone we loved it ＜3 xxx

Staff were fabulous, food was average and the spa was lovely but needs updated and it's obvious it doesn't get a good clean. For the money I was disappointed.

Amazing spa day with treatments by Scarlett, followed by an evening meal and overnight stay so enjoyable and would highly recommend

My daughters & i went for a relaxing spa day. From start to finish the whole experience was brilliant we couldn’t fault it. All the staff we encountered were super efficient & friendly. Big shout out to Becky for working her magic on my shoulder knots. Lucky for us weather was good in the morning so we made full use of the outdoor facilities. We opted to eat off the menu rather than the afternoon tea & the food was delicious.

Had a lovely spa day celebrating mums birthday! Booked the off-peak spa day which was great value. Had a fab massage by Chloe P. Would recommend :)
