The Riverside Rooms

The Riverside Rooms are in a super location, right on the canal surrounded by historic buildings. A really fantastic view right outside. It's quiet, has free parking and near to a couple of pubs. The room itself is clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. It's not your sterile hotel room. We stayed on a really hot day and the room was lovely and cool. I had a great sleep. It's an old building and the ceiling in the bathroom is sloped, so if you are very tall you are going to have to take care in the shower, I'm going to say that this is part of the charm and I was absolutely fine with it. Despite being central it's so lovely and quiet there that we were able to leave the window open and hear the water trickling through the lock at night, which was a real treat. It's next door to a pub with a good range of meals and also a super CAMRA micro pub, so you don't have to go far to find yourself some refreshments. We were really pleased we chose to stay there, it's good value.

Fabulous accommodation! The rooms was just lovely with a view over the canal s the house is the old lock keepers house so by the lock! The room was great, had a small fridge which was perfect for warm weather ad having parking was a huge bonus. Lovely bathroom＞ Great cups for tea & coffee, none of these tiny small things that offer 1 sip! Fresh water as well. Only a few minutes walk to Newark Centre, and a lovely pub next door!

Room was great and all of the amenities were top notch. Great bed, good shower, big tv, fan in room to keep cool. Booking process and room access was convenient. Can’t fault it - oh, and a nice view over the lock near the river Trent. Walkable to town and next door to the castle.

Loved these rooms. We had room 2 (couple) and room 3 (twin room but single occupancy) . Room 2 looked over the lock , had everything we needed. Messaged host with questions and got immediate responses. Very central location and dedicated parking was so helpful and convenient. Communication both leading up to our visit abs during our visit was perfect

The most idyllic location in Newark on Trent, this beautiful lock house has been renovated in too a wonderful place to stay! It makes me so happy to see small business investing into the local area too. Sadly I would have loved to have spent more time at The Riverside Rooms, however it was a flying in and out visit to the area and a last minute booking and what a perfect booking it was. I was assisted with an early bag drop at 11am, and was able to check in later that evening, it was a very cool evening, but opening the door to room number 4 was a very welcoming surprise, toasty & cosy room that was so stylish, clean and ample amounts of tea coffee and snacks 😄. The location was fantastic, and private parking with a simple QR code registration. I was hesitant about parking over night in the area but Newark/The Riverside has taken me by surprise, I was very happy and content to stay and park over night. I would actually stay again, it’s a perfect location for some sightseeing and local access to the town.

We only stayed one night, as a stop-over, but wish we had stayed longer. Our room, no 2, was very comfortable and characterful, with a view overlooking the lock, so it was lovely to sit and watch the boats coming and going. We loved the convenience of having our own parking space, and the situation, on the river path was ideal, being just 5 minutes walk to the castle and the centre of Newark. We loved Newark, with it's range of individual shops, lovely market place and wonderful old buildings, and will certainly return to the Riverside Rooms in the future, so we can explore a but more.

Great little find and right on the river, close to the shops and restaurants, accommodation itself was lovely, easy check in, and will definitely stay here again when visiting Newark Happy Guests....

excellent location ,right on the riverside with a great pub ,restaurant nextdoor,couldn,t be easier to check in all information provided beforehand,comfortable beds ,good shower ,spotlessly clean accomodation ,lastly my wife left a small handbag behind which was posted back , thank you very much

The rooms are in a great location, with parking for one vehicle for each room. Parking is allocated but you register at a pub next door to ensure you do not receive a significant fine. On arrival the room was cold. Heating had been turned off, I went out to dinner so expected it to be on a timer and would come on later. It did not. Therefore the room and bathroom remained cold. Even the towel rail didn’t work. Very poor for a room at the price charged.
