The Westin Washington National Harbor

Great food! Great service! The staff were nice to me. After a long tiring working day, this hotel is a good choice for business travel. It is right at the harbor and next to all types of delicious restaurants.

My car broke down in Morgantown, WV. I called the hotel to cancel, expecting to be charged one night, not both. I believe I was charged for 2 nights and also had to purchase a hotel near my broken down car in WV. I believe the policy was to charge me one night and you would think they would throw you a bone and sympathize with my horrible situation.

Good location, cleaned room, very comfortable bed. Thick soft towels, Love the shower head and water pressure. However, the bathroom had broken light and bifocal mirror. Unacceptable, not up to Westin standards.

I wanted a room on the water and got it! The only thing between our river-view room and the Potomac was a walking path and shore-preserving rocks. The Westin is a business-style hotel well located in the busy business district. Many attractions, shops and restaurants are withing easy walking distance. The hotel is sensitive to guests who have challenges related to hearing, visual, and mobility. We had a wheelchair with us and found no obstacles. Though the hotel does not have a garage, there's parking across the street at The Mariner garage. You can choose valet or self-park. Our room was very clean and super quiet and came with the signature Heavenly bed bedding. Thoughtful touches like lamps with charging ports and a sample lavender oil that you can rub on your temples to promote restful sleep were much appreciated. Husband loved the big screen TV (about 50 inches?) and the ability to easily locate programs on screen (a feature not always available on hotel TVs). We both loved the rainfall shower and the wall-mounted shampoo, conditioner, and body scrub. And that view! We overlooked a small marina and the Capitol Wheel. It's a charming view that expands an already good-sized room that includes a safe, a small refrigerator and a coffee/tea station stocked with Starbucks products. Though there's lots of places to eat nearby, we chose to have dinner and breakfast at Sauciety, the hotel's bar/restaurant, which provided excellent meals and thoughtful, friendly service. Speaking of service, every hotel employee we encountered was pleasant, ready to help, and went that little extra bit to help us feel welcome. Room for improvement? Honestly not much. We had some confusion trying to take the elevator to our room, because it was not clear you need to swipe your room key inside the elevator to go up. One of the cleaning staff came to our rescue. I guess? a sign would have helped, but it wasn't a big deal. And we appreciated the added security that this step provided.

Bedbugs-avoid!! Checked into a room on the 4th floor and was greeted by a dead bedbug on the white comforter. I didn’t bother with any further inspection of the beds and left immediately. I saw what looked like a possible blood stain on a gray blanket too. Front desk clerk reassigned a different room on 6th fl and no further bedbug evidence was found. Will never stay again though. Had I not had a personal reason to stay here, I would’ve definitely changed hotels. Dusty, stale odors, shabby furnishings, peeling wallpaper, dirty carpets. Booked a water view which was nice to have and the dining room wasn’t bad for a quick bite one morning but the tap water had a bad taste.

The room was clean and comfortable but, the front desk staff was not welcoming at all! Also the staff at the restaurant was very slow with service.
