The best part of this hotel is perhaps the peaceful garden. The breakfast was good, so was the dinner restaurant. I love heritage hotels, so it was worth the visit, but the experience was somewhat compromised by multiple signs of poor maintenance & management. Bathroom was outdated, which is fine, but it was also in need of a thorough cleaning and removal of black mold. Some of the carpets in the hallways need replacement. Furniture was mixed, some of which did not pay tribute to the heritage of the place. All in all I would say the hotel wing should be shut down for maintenance. I would recommend a visit after this is completed.

One of Classic Hotels and historic. Incredible art collection including in each room. Bath room needs updating ,,, although mostly functional. Restaurant has a pretty set menu for dinner - so may not be your cup of tea. Not the world’s most creative menu.

What a fabulous hotel, certainly my favourite in Norway. All the rooms are named for an artist and our room had three original works by the named artist. There is art everywhere and the receptionist was kind enough to give as sheet (kunstoversikt) listing all the works in common areas. There are several works by Munch in the oponymous restaurant but it is best to view them in daylight. The location right on the fjord is splendid with great views from both the restaurant and the room where breakfast is served. Dinner in the Munch restaurant was excellent with great service.

We had the chance to visit Hotel Refnes Gods on the 25 th of May 2024 for a special celebration. We ate a very nice and exclusive lunch , veal and vegetabel mix , perfectly prepared. We booked the room called « Soba » , a room which was perfect our party of 16. We moved to the salon « Engelsen» for cake and coffee/tea, the room was very delicate and fitted perfectly the occasion as it was so warm the door to the patio was opened. A big thank you to Ismahene and her team.

Fantastic hotel, beautiful gardens, view, rooms good decor and very clean. Hotel staff very friendly and a big shout out to Tina in the restaurant who went above and beyond, she was polite, very knowledgeable of the hotel’s history and such a credit to your hotel.We would definitely return and thank you for a wonderful stay
