DoubleTree by Hilton Montgomery Downtown

Ready for a new makeover, maybe a tear down. This place has been neglected for years, and it shows. Electrical outlets aren't secured to the walls, outlets that don't work. Shower doors that won't close because the frames are broken. Doors that slam and let the slightest noise into the room. Appliances out on the floor and not in the cabinets built for them (see outlets). Floors stink like dirty feet. Filters not changed out regularly. Mattress was probably in good shape when it was purchased in the twentieth century. Furniture is very old and worn. Not enough trash cans. Dark. Poor lighting (none over the desk), and window curtains broken. Bedroom is directly inside the door, and living room behind the back wall (backwards). TVs are first generation flatscreen. Few channels tune. No Bluetooth connection. 30 year old phones work. Sometimes. Stairwell is immaculate. Maybe because it's never used. Trash bagged and piled five feet high in the hallways. Security is a joke. Break ins, unrestricted access to floors at all hours. Random people wandering the hallways. One knocked on my door and said “just checking”, despite the do-not-disturb sign (he didn’t work there). Found my door bolted open one hour after I checked in at 9 pm. No one inside Staff must not have much to do. Always standing at the reception counter and visiting. Much better choices than this hotel.

Checked in March 31. to April 2. No picture on the hotel website showed the room I had, no light switch by the door, a problem when it’s dark out. I walked in and was shocked, outdated, not justdead bugsunder my bed, when you shower the water runs into the bathroom…the staff was no help, there would be no other room available. My complaint about this received no attention at all. More than 200 $ per night☹️☹️

Stayed here August 13-15. The good: location. Walking distance to excellent restaurants and museums. The bad: Housekeeping consistantly inconsistent. Day two, beds never made. Day three coffee never re-stocked in room. The UGLY: Abssence of basic maintenance. Shower ceiling water damaged. Black mold thriving. More of the same on wallpaper peeling away from bathroom door jamb. Carpets filthy. My wife spilled her water bottle in front of nightstand, and used a hand towel to blot it up, and the towl literally turned brown. Totally disgusting. Hotel was booked for weekend and unable to change room. Please check your room before you unpack.
