Riu Palace Jamaica - Adults Only - All Inclusive

Best experience of a lifetime! Location was wonderful. Views were wonderful. Food was amazing and plenty of variety. Everyone from the staff to the visitors was super friendly. The best part was the entertainment crew! They kept the vibes going with dancing, ring toss, basketball, connect 4. Foam pool party and neon party were off the chain. Shout outs to Genius, Denaro, Astro, DJ Unstoppable, Omar, String Bean, Gaby, and Bubbles for keeping the party alive. But I have to say, Genius was my favorite! He kept us working out in the pool with the water aerobics and was just so full of energy and personality! I will definitely go back here.

The place was crowded with young singles , scantily clothed and the smell of **** everywhere 24 hours a day. Food was mediocre. I’ve stayed at a Riu Palace in Aruba, this isn’t anything like it. Staff was generally rude. Room smelled and was plain as a hospital room…. Yet I was told it was the best in the place when I asked to move .. what a laugh. Beach was full of seaweed and pool was full of wig hair. No thanks.

First, don’t listen to the negative reviews of this Riu. But I will elaborate for you on some of the myths shared by others. Hotel itself: Yes, it is smaller than most Riu’s However, I find this to be positive. Not far walks to eat and relax on the beach or pool. You also can utilize both Riu Montego Bay and Riu Reggae which are no more than a 2 minute walk with easy access beach or road. Pools: They have two main pools for all guests and a separate pool for Elegance club guests. Pools are great, cooler in morning time and warm in afternoon but still refreshing. Never once had an issue finding chairs. They have so many. And I was here when they were sold out of rooms. Beach: Although not huge, it’s big enough. Sand is soft and again a ton of seating options from beds to chairs to hammocks etc. You will find men trying to sell you things from canos on the water, but none pushy at all. Also, always and I mean always when they come around a security guard will be standing I would say no more than 30 feet from you. Water is not the the DR or more Caribbean waters but it’s clean and 70% clear I would say. Safe for swimming. Entertainment team: Best I’ve seen at any resort. Genius, String-bean, Dinero and DJ Unstoppable will keep you occupied at the main pool all day with activities. If you don’t want to participate you have another pool right next to the main pool to relax in. Kudos to the entire entertainment team. Just excellent. Excursions: So many to choose from. You do you. I recommend the water sports right next door at Riu Reggae. So many options to choose from. Bars: lobby bar, bars outside. Alcohol everywhere. No need to worry. Food: Yes, you do need reservations for specialty restaurants. I did book eats 3 days out. You have the choice of Italian, Japanese/Asian, Krystal which is elegant food and the Steakhouse. I liked the Steakhouse and Italian the best. However they all I would say are a 8/10. Not the best but not bad. The food was filling and I’m a big guy. The app super easy to use and change bookings. Front desk also helped when some said sold out and still got it. Just ask, they won’t say no. They are not all open everyday so work with the team and they will accommodate. Buffet is the buffet, if you can’t find food to eat then you must not have travelled to another country before. Food for everyone. Breakfast is always my favorite. So much to choose from. Rooms: We did stay in Elite Club but I will explain this below. The rooms, yes are a bit dated. However, if you are on vacation to sit in your room like some of the complaints, then stay home. There is entertainment every night at all 3 hotels. Get the hell out of your room. Beds are comfortable and liquor and drinks in your fridge are plentiful. That’s all you need. Beautiful place. Clean! Very clean. Great service . Exceptional people ! From the front desk to servers and the RIU fit and fun staff . Everyone makes u feel like family ! The beach is well kept and beautiful ! Can’t say enough great things about this place . Will definitely go back !

Stayed in the Reggae 3 years ago and enjoyed that so thought we’d upgrade this time and stay at the Palace. Hotel is very good, communal areas are always clean and tidy and the bars and restaurants are very good. Special mentions for Audley at the buffet restaurant for our breakfast and lunch, Winston for our drinks at the Hanover pool bar and the Aqua bar and finally Kimberley at cappuccino for our afternoon coffees. However, we did have some problems in regard to small items going missing from the room (charging cable and a pool dress) as well as a run in with reception over maintenance work being conducted from around 11:30 pm to 1 am. It was obvious that they were working in the room 2 doors down from us with drilling and hammering but when we complained the reception staff said it was essential maintenance in the kitchens and not on our floor, despite us seeing workmen in the room!! We didn’t let this spoil our stay and the hotel is overall very good, certain a la carte restaurants are good, can thoroughly recommend the seaside steakhouse and Krystal, the Italian is ok but a bit bland and we only visited the Chinese once, food wasn’t great and service wasn’t consistent with our experience in all the other eateries, maybe we caught them on a bad night. For a quiet relaxing break you can’t beat the palace

This is one of the worst RIU Hotels we have ever had the misfortune to say in it’s classed as a five star hotel I wouldn’t give it three stars we had originally booked into the Rui Montego Bay hotel but after reading the reviews decided it wasn’t our seen so paid to upgrade to the Riu palace We were so looking forward to celebrating our birthdays,Anniversary at this hotel but didn’t expect to have to sign a waiver to say if we got any marks on towels bedding etc we would have to pay minimum $30 maximum $250 dollars you are only allowed to one beach towel a day we have never seen so many bed sheets hanging over other guests balcony Food in the buffet restaurant was awful breakfast the bacon was so overcooked and was always cold as was the eggs ,Hash browns, tomatoes, etc the fresh bead was not replenished had to constantly ask staff for more but it never arrived , there was also lots of flys around the food Lunch and dinner menus were the same not many cooking stations on offer again food was cold Italian restaurant don’t bother really awful as was the Asian the steak restaurant the fillet was lovely but the rib eye was awful we couldn’t cut it even with a steak knife the lobster was also over cooked and again couldn’t cut it you only get one Side dish this I found a bit strange as when we have stayed in other Riu we got so much more sides . The entertainment team were really good , as was the bar staff and the reception staff the buffet and restaurants staff just didn’t want to to be there they looked so unhappy also some of them were extremely rude to guests The young Americans girls that came in to the hotel were there just to get absolutely drunk they were so loud they were constantly being wheeled out of the pool, restaurants, bars, in a wheelchair because they were absolutely drunk my opinion go somewhere else this is like a 18-30 Benidorm hotel you can’t just sit on a sun lounger and chill , We did the Kingston blue mountain and bob marly trip booked through Tui the mini bus that they supplied was definitely not fit for the road seat belts were cut , air conditioning was blocked off sponges stuffed up on luggage racks our driver drove in a dangerous way we did it something in the road and we nearly flipped over if you are doing any trips book with the guys in resort T
