Riu Palace Jamaica - Adults Only - All Inclusive

The resort and staff were amazing!! The room was clean and staff were very attentive.. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. The only issues we had was the loud and drunkenness of some of the other guests... It's really unfortunate that people think they can OUTDRINK the bar!!! The resort is ALL INCLUSIVE, so there's no worry about food or drinks, however, some guests went over board!!! There is no reason people should want to behave in such a loud, disruptive and disrespectful manner to themselves, the staff other guests.. My Girl's Trip was a six day stay and two of those nights we got VERY little sleep due to loud and obnoxious behavior! Although this is NO reflection of The Riu, it is unfortunate that bad behavior must be considered when booking this ADULTS ONLY RESORT..

If you have mobility issues this hotel may not be the place for you. The Rui Palace does have lifts but the reception staff will place you in a room as far away from the lifts as possible and you will be walking along endless corridors! The staff have offered me alternative rooms, one on the next floor up which is the same distance from the lifts and an offer of a disability adapted room on the ground floor which is dark, dingy and has rubble instead of a nice grassed lawn! I declined all alternatives. They have got a strange set up where most of the rooms do not have dividers which separates the bathroom facilities from the rest of the room, which leaves a lack of privacy when you are sharing with family members or friends. The reception staff have stood by and watched me hobble in agony with no offer of help. They are empty vessels almost ‘corpse like’ with no Customer Service skills and no empathy whatsoever. They are not disability aware or confident and they do not want to be either. I was mortified when a Manager referred to the disabled adapted room for ‘Handicapped’ people. Upon check in and being fully aware of mobility issues, the corpses did not show me around the hotel so I could at least familiarise myself with the amenities. Pay close attention to what you eat at the Montego Bay buffet. I went to get some ice cream and noticed that there were bits in all flavours. I have a nut allergy and asked a member of staff if the ice cream contained nuts? She shrugged her shoulders, said she doesn’t know and walked off!! Dare I say…that was the final straw. I marched to reception and vented my anger to the Duty Corpse and to date nothing has been done, no apology, just a cheap bottle of wine left in my room with a card that says ‘Compliments’. The hotel told me that they have done everything they can to accommodate me, which is a fair comment because they do not understand the concept of why they are there and what is expected of them. On a more positive note, the hotel is spotless and the rooms are clean. The bar staff are fabulous.. shout out to Archer! Apologies for the long drawn out feedback, I just don’t want any of you to go through the same nightmare. I am still onsite…Seven down…Seven to go!!

RIU Palace was an overall great experience, very chill & quiet in a good way; not boring at all! The pools, the entertainment, the activities, the drinks, the BUFFET-morning and night! I would not recommend the Italian restaurant! A plus for staying at Palace is you gain access to both RIU Reggae & RIU Montego Bay; so if you want a bit more excitement from the chill vibes at RIU Palace you don't have far to go.
