Riu Palace Jamaica - Adults Only - All Inclusive

First, don’t listen to the negative reviews of this Riu. But I will elaborate for you on some of the myths shared by others. Hotel itself: Yes, it is smaller than most Riu’s However, I find this to be positive. Not far walks to eat and relax on the beach or pool. You also can utilize both Riu Montego Bay and Riu Reggae which are no more than a 2 minute walk with easy access beach or road. Pools: They have two main pools for all guests and a separate pool for Elegance club guests. Pools are great, cooler in morning time and warm in afternoon but still refreshing. Never once had an issue finding chairs. They have so many. And I was here when they were sold out of rooms. Beach: Although not huge, it’s big enough. Sand is soft and again a ton of seating options from beds to chairs to hammocks etc. You will find men trying to sell you things from canos on the water, but none pushy at all. Also, always and I mean always when they come around a security guard will be standing I would say no more than 30 feet from you. Water is not the the DR or more Caribbean waters but it’s clean and 70% clear I would say. Safe for swimming. Entertainment team: Best I’ve seen at any resort. Genius, String-bean, Dinero and DJ Unstoppable will keep you occupied at the main pool all day with activities. If you don’t want to participate you have another pool right next to the main pool to relax in. Kudos to the entire entertainment team. Just excellent. Excursions: So many to choose from. You do you. I recommend the water sports right next door at Riu Reggae. So many options to choose from. Bars: lobby bar, bars outside. Alcohol everywhere. No need to worry. Food: Yes, you do need reservations for specialty restaurants. I did book eats 3 days out. You have the choice of Italian, Japanese/Asian, Krystal which is elegant food and the Steakhouse. I liked the Steakhouse and Italian the best. However they all I would say are a 8/10. Not the best but not bad. The food was filling and I’m a big guy. The app super easy to use and change bookings. Front desk also helped when some said sold out and still got it. Just ask, they won’t say no. They are not all open everyday so work with the team and they will accommodate. Buffet is the buffet, if you can’t find food to eat then you must not have travelled to another country before. Food for everyone. Breakfast is always my favorite. So much to choose from. Rooms: We did stay in Elite Club but I will explain this below. The rooms, yes are a bit dated. However, if you are on vacation to sit in your room like some of the complaints, then stay home. There is entertainment every night at all 3 hotels. Get the hell out of your room. Beds are comfortable and liquor and drinks in your fridge are plentiful. That’s all you need. Beautiful place. Clean! Very clean. Great service . Exceptional people ! From the front desk to servers and the RIU fit and fun staff . Everyone makes u feel like family ! The beach is well kept and beautiful ! Can’t say enough great things about this place . Will definitely go back !

We stayed here as a couple for two weeks and could not fault anything whilst we were here. The room was lovely and spacious, it was cleaned really well every single day. Housekeeping also came round at around 7pm to ask if we needed anything else. The food selection throughout the day was amazing, there were many different options to try including live cooking stations and lots of international dishes, the buffet was different every single day. We did try all the restaurants too and they were fantastic. All the staff were friendly, helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. The waiters/waitresses were constantly walking round asking people if they needed any other drinks. Huge shoutout to the entertainment team (Astro, Dinero, Stringbean, Genius and Damo) who made our time at the hotel, the daily activities and night time entertainment they put on were brilliant and they always tried to include everyone, whether you joined in with the games or just spectated. They put so much effort in to everything and take time out of their day to chat to everyone. This hotel was the quieter out of the other two you could use, but as we enjoyed it so much we didn’t really need to visit the others. It was only at night when we went to see some of the shows at the other hotels, also every Friday they either have a neon party or a white party at the Riu Montego Bay. Thank you to everyone we met for making our holiday so memorable and enjoyable, it will without a doubt be somewhere we would look to go again in the future.

Great location although wouldn’t rate this Hotel as a 5 star Platinum. Hotel was clean but rooms a little small and need some decorating. Staff and service were fantastic great choice of food also would definitely recommend the Gourmet restaurant.

What a fabulous hotel, we had an amazing time here, the staff are so friendly, especially Audley in the restaurant, he couldn't do enough for us. The entertainment team were fabulous, including you in the activities but not forcing you, Deneiro was such a friendly lad. The cleaning staff work tirelessly to keep everything spotless throughout the hotel, the pool toilets were as clean as the one in our room (most pool toilets are pretty awful). We tried a few of the speciality restaurants (these have to get booked via the app and is a bit of a pain) but to be honest you really don't need to visit as the food in the buffet is refreshed regularly and very fresh. There isn't much around the hotel so if you like a wander around this isn't really suitable. You are able to use the hotels either side which we found busier as they are larger but it was nice to pop in and out when we fancied a change, also keep an eye on the entertainment as sometimes the other hotels may have different options, we loved the silent disco as the reggae and the party night at the Montego Bay. My criticisms are: having to book specialty restaurants via the app, also quizzes and bingo are online so you need the internet, which is fine whilst your using the hotel free WiFi but when you go to the other hotels this is not the case and you are unable to access WiFi.
