It’s a pretty hotel- also old. So the rooms hear noises. There was a 10 year old overnight birthday party right above our heads- we could hear very loud stomping- we went up and told them to stop at 1:00 am. Then again at 4:30 am. There is no one at the front desk to help- and no one had told us who to call if help is needed. We were hosting our son’s baby shower the next day. So just a bummer for sure- we were exhausted from lack of sleep- and they did nothing to compensate us. Our biggest beef is that if there is no one at front desk, and it’s that old and not sound proof- don’t put a 10’year old overnight birthday party above someone else!

Erika and Lily made our less than 24 hours in Montclair super memorable - they helped me organize champagne, greeted us with wine, and OMG the Candy Closet ?!?!?! Breakfast was a dream and we stayed in one of the Family Rooms which was perfect for the three of us - with great space to rest from a long flight, hang out, and get ourselves ready for a fun time in Montclair. The building and accommodation are first class and we are counting the days till we return again. So inspired by the surroundings and service...THANK YOU!

I can’t imagine anyone giving this place one star. You ring the bell, a sweet person lets you in and tells you how it is, tips you off about the candy closet and the happy hour with gratis wine…For those who have trouble sleeping or don’t like noise, when you make your reservation, just ask for a quiet room?? Really nice breakfast, ate outside, with many options. So many great coffee table books to read and pore through in the library. I wanted to stay a second night, but it wasn’t in the cards. Wonderful stay, hope to return for all the candy we did didn’t try!

My wife and I loved this place and we will definitely be staying there again anytime we come back to NJ. We used to live in Bloomfield NJ but now we live in Southern California, and I had to get a place for a work trip. We stayed here one night in “Steve” and one night later we came back and stayed in “Duke,” which was our favorite of the two. Super clean, upscale, and the free wine at 5pm was a nice treat. Parking was easy, and we highly recommend this spot.

This is our second time staying at The George. We felt welcomed and safe. We LOVED it the first time so, of course, we had to make another visit. Unfortunately, this trip wasn't the same. Our bathroom smelled wet and as if it wasn't cleaned properly. Some of the towels had a brown stain and a peculiar smell.

Can’t wait to go back!
My husband and I went to WWE Summer Slam & needed a nice hotel away from Newark! This hotel was the best- staff was so helpful and sweet and welcoming. We stayed in the Jen room and it was so comfortable, and homey!! We loved the candy closet, the library room, the gym & the breakfast service!

Solid 5 stars!
Loved the breakfast. Fresh bagels and other healthy options available. Coffee and expresso options included. Bed was solid and pillows luxurious. Overall very nice. Loved the extra touches put in. Highly recommend this hotel!

Can’t wait to go back
We have stayed at The George many times and it’s always a pleasure. Every room is unique. The included breakfast is great. They have a social hour each night with wine in the library. The neighborhood is perfect for walking and close to downtown.

So much to love about the George! Stylish rooms, delicious breakfast, wine hour, and the friendliest staff. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Montclair.
