The MC Hotel, Autograph Collection

We stayed in their most expensive room, a 1 BR suite on the 7th floor on the Bloomfield Ave. side. When we returned from our evening out around 10 and prepared for bed, the music from the rooftop bar was loud. At 11:30 I called down and asked to be moved to another room away from the music. I was told nothing was available on the other side of the hotel. When we checked out in the morning I suggested to the guest services agent that people who request rooms on high floors under the rooftop on the weekends should be told that they will hear loud music until it closes at 1AM, and that my request to be moved the night before couldn't be accommodated. Her response was "Oh". Really???

We paid for 3 rooms for one night at the hotel in order to attend a nearby wedding. All we needed afterwards was a good night's sleep before we headed on our 7 hr drive home. The hotel had a private party on the top floor which played loud throbbing music until 1 am. We couldn't believe the hotel allowed this. And then on awakening early in the morning to depart, there was no coffee - one room didn't have the coffee (which we had requested the night before) and another room had a broken machine. They couldn't even comp us each a cup of coffee because a different vendor runs the counter service. We didn't pay over $900 for this hassle!

This is my second stay at the MC Montclair. The front desk staff are wonderful, but the rest stops there. Food service consistently disappoints. There was a buffet of stale eggs and scraped out french toast casserole on Thanksgiving morning. Service is always hard to come by in the restaurant. There were no serving utensils for the fruit and the hand sanitizer was empty. My Bonvoy Platinum breakfast voucher didn't even cover it. The rooms are nice enough, but kind of rough around the edges. The wall mounted lamp in our room didn't work and was partially falling off the wall. There was a sticky substance on the desk. The closet floor was incredibly dusty, so much that a sweater fell and was completely covered in dust. The gym was adequate/small. There were no towels and the equipment wipes had run out. There is a Peloton but the water bottle holders had broken off. When stretching, I noticed that under the equipment was all covered in dust - like an obscene amount of dust. Rooms didn't have cork screws, and the front desk didn't have any. I had to borrow one from a waiter and promptly bring it back downstairs. This all adds up to a very meh stay that I didn't feel was a very good value for what you get.

Nicest staff members were in housekeeping and one woman at checkin. Everyone else seemed bothered and annoyed to be working. Zero assistance with luggage available, and high price for parking overnight, for New Jersey.

The restaurant, Allegory had the best wings I've ever had! The manager was awesome and the server, Crystal, was amazing! Would definitely recommend!

Loved it! The stay was clean and beautiful. Parking was the only issue. Had to valet, and it was expensive.
