Moxy Minneapolis Uptown

We had a very brief day at the Moxy. Seemed like a fun place with lots of games in the lobby and a cleverly set up room that was quite comfortable. The staff sent us to a very good breakfast nearby at the Breakfast Club which we really enjoyed. Appreciated the suggestion!

I paid months in advance because my husband and I made plans to see Final Fantasy for his birthday. This is something I had to plan far in advance because majority of my paycheck goes to bills. We get to the hotel and the check in individual said my card wasn't working. I have no idea why, I had used it twice before on the same day... I called my bank and they said that there was no transaction from the hotel at all, no declined transaction no nothing, as if it had never been swiped. The bank assured me my card was working and everything was fine. I went back inside to ask if they would swipe it on the other machine, I was told no because if wouldn't work anyways, that even though it is a different machine that they are linked. I'm unsure of that mainly because whenever someone's card didn't work at the businesses I worked at... you used the other machine or tried little tricks that would normally allow for the swipe to be recognized. I was told I would have a refund in a few days, i guess we will see.... im bumbed out because I don't just have extra money for a different hotel on hand and I made sure (because im an anxious person) everything for the hotel was in order before leaving. Reading the emails, making sure I didn't have to do anything extra etc. So what I'm getting at is we drove quite a ways to be left without a hotel room we had paid for in advance. Everything on my end is working and they wouldn't even try other options with the card... hopefully I see that refund. Take away is that I'm very disappointed with the staff there and I'll never recommend it to friends or family. Also there is no parking which is weird for a hotel They do advertise parking in a lot that you have to pay for so have extra money for that. Cause it's not cheap. 0/10, do not recommend.

Let’s start with parking; well there is none. They advertise you can park in a lot for $18/day, but when you get to the desk at 6pm, it’s $26/day and not available. The less than helpful front desk clerk said you’ll need to find something on the street. He also started every sentence with “as I said”. I’ve checked into hundreds of hotels all over the country and never had such a condescending front desk clerk. Room: this could be the tiniest room I’ve ever stayed in and that includes Manhattan. There is no fridge, coffee maker, or any type of credenza to set things on. You do have a drop down wall desk that is 12x24 to work at, but the “chair” available to sit on is no more than a 12x12 stool. I did like the automatic sound machine with adjustable dial. The bathroom sink was a slow drain, and the toilet was a large square. I’ve never seen a squat toilet seat! Regardless, it was way too big for a normal sized rear-end. Staff: I encountered several staff and all were so unbelievably rude I would avoid this place based solely on this fact alone. Marriott should retract their name from this hotel immediately. I asked for a spoon - use a stirrer- I asked specifically for a spoon “WELL WERE OUT!” Same friendo, same. Never again!

Moxy Uptown Minneapolis is fun! Great hotel in a fun part of Minneapolis. A bit surprising that many businesses are still reeling from the upheaval around George Floyd, but fun property. The free drink offering at the nice bar was a nice touch.

Moody is a fun and relaxing place. The rooms are small but comfortable and there are plenty of other spaces to hang out in. They are pet friendly, which is great. I loved everything about it, except the B string on the guitar in my room wouldn’t quite stay in tune. Still super nice.
