We recently stayed at the Millthorpe Boutique Motel on a weekend away with another couple, booked into two rooms. Our friends left after two nights, but we had wanted a longer look around the beautiful town of Millthorpe, so we had asked our friends, who were making the bookings, to put us down for four nights. On the morning our friends left my partner was feeling a bit unwell, so we had hung out the 'Do Not Disturb' sign, aiming for an unhurried start to the day. At 10.30 am, Emma (Millthorpe Boutique Motel employee) hammered on our door and when my wife answered, came at us all guns blazing to inform us we needed to vacate immediately and move next door, that we had ignored her text telling us this, and that we were lucky she wasn't going to charge us for the cleaning fee for the unit next door, since we'd stayed in the wrong unit. We were entirely unaware of what she was very stridently telling us. When we tried to explain that we were unaware of the fact we a) we should have been occupying the other unit (as the longer stay) or b) of any text that had been sent...Emma doubled down - on the volume and tone, as well as the message. When she eventually paused my partner explained to her that we had no issue at all with moving, and that we would have done so if we'd been aware we needed to do so, she blustered on. My wife finally asked her to please bring her volume down and to consider whether starting with a question rather than a series of accusations might have gone better. Having understood that the extended stay was booked to our friends' room, so we dutifully moved next door for the next two nights. What was otherwise a really pleasant stay in Millthorpe (recommended!) was spoiled because of the Millthorpe Boutique Motel's employee Emma not being either suited to or trained for interacting with guests and instead going straight to yelling and accusing rather than just letting us know that we needed to be in the room next door. Which was no problem at all. Due to Emma, we won't be stay here again, and nor will our friends who recommended the hotel and stay there regularly for work. There are lots of other options in Millthorpe. We'd recommend looking at those instead.
