I had high expectations for my stay as Champneys has such a good reputation and the stay was not at all cheap (£450 for 1 night) Unfortunately I soon realised it isn't the luxury spa it is made out to be. Pretty average in fact. Our room was pretty standard but the bathroom was sooo disappointing. I have honestly stayed in more impressive 3 star hotel bathrooms. It was so tired and worn. Definitely not a 'superior' room as advertised. The whole hotel is looking tired and not particularly well maintained. I certainly won't be recommending to friends as there are better spas for the same price.

I went to visit forest mere for an overnight stay. Had a wonderful massage with Tess, one of the best I have ever had. The service in the restaurant was excellent, but the food was a little questionable, undercooked chicken on the lunch buffet and pretty bland beef for the evening meal. The pool areas were not too busy but looking a little shabby. Room was comfortable, however there was mould on the bathroom ceiling and net curtains in the bedroom. As a company promoting a luxury brand this was disappointing. When I mentioned this at check out, the guy said I will pass on your feedback but made no apparent note of my comments so I am pretty sure they won't be acted on. Also on the Tuesday, every time I walked past the champneys shop the girl in there was on her phone. It is not very inviting and shows a complete disinterest in her work.

Had an absolutely lovely stay last weekend, thanks to Jason Smitsdorff. He helped make our stay a memorable one. We had such a relaxing massage. Our room was lovely and clean, the food was delicious, especially the cheesecake at lunch time!! We will be back very soon! Thanks again, Jason!

Spent a lovely couple of days here this week with my mum. We've visited Forest Mere several times and I have to say that each trip has been made special by the staff members. We're always greeted with a smile , everyone works so hard and really make the place what it is. Emelia (possibly Emelie, apologies for missing spelling! 🫣) and Luke in the restaurant were two people that really stood out this time. Both such lovely people who were friendly, helpful and professional. Everyone works very hard and the people in the restaurant and cleaning staff are continuously on the go and it's obvious that they give their all. Thank you everyone for another lovely stay :) My one "niggle" is that Champneys charge guests for ice. I've never had this in any hotel anywhere in the world other than Champneys! It's not an inexpensive place to visit so to be charged £3.50 for a bucket of frozen water seems excessive!

Of all the Champneys Spas, this is my favourite. Evelyn organised such an amazing series of classes and James was a great server. Highly recommend it to everyone.

The positives - Staff are really nice, food is pretty good, but if you are staying, the rooms let it down - I've been lucky enough to stay in a Superior room on 3 different occasions, and each time the room offering has been different - some come with outside patio, some don't, some come with lovely walk in shower, some come with bath and ok shower over, or bath and not a good shower and you dont know what you are getting till you turn up! Not all superior rooms are the same, and some are very dated in their offering; some are near the spa where non-residents walk in and are noisy as a result - not relaxing. Also, queueing at mealtimes to be taken to a table isn't great, because people are asked to book for other mealtmes at this point - why not do all of this at check-in?, so then no one has to stand in a queue for food, it's not very relaxing. There also needs to be much more relaxing/seating areas indoors, not enough when its busy and the weather is rubbish - good to see they are creating a bit more which should be ready next year. Never had treatments, so cannot comment on them. Overall Its nice, but it could be so much better with some minor tweaks, and really strive to offer that relaxing Spa retreat feel.

I was impressed by the restaurant staff, especially Rizano, who goes out of his way to ensure the guests are well cared for

I was disappointed with this spa day trip for the following reasons: 1. Staff let guests hog the beds/seating areas around the pool and don't do anything to mitigate this. I watched people leave towels on beds and then saw them eating lunch for example. I don't think you can expect people to be considerate so the staff should either enforce this or arrange more seating. Telling me they are working on more seating is pointless when I've already paid significant money to be there. I was also told I could use the relaxation room in the changing room but this was freezing. 2. Lack of hot vegetarian food options in the Moor restaurant. Serving spoon that had touched meat was touching the spoon for the one few vegetarian options they had. No one asked me if I wanted a drink at lunch. 3. No one was manning the shops by the therapy rooms. 4. The massage i paid for was 45 minutes, not 50. Small point but the massage was expensive!! 5. Glasses were dirty in the orangery cafe If you have the option, I recommend Nirvana Spa - much better value for money!!

Easy to Park. Friendly check in. Lots of places to sit and relax both inside and outside the spa/pool area. Spotlessly clean. Delicious food for all meals - buffet breakfast and lunch, menu dinner. Comfortable, quiet bedroom. Restorative spa treatments. Choice of separate male:female and / or mixed sauna. Huge pool. Delightful, large grounds with choice of length and difficulty of walking trails. Wonderful pianist playing after dinner on Friday. All staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Our stay did exactly as we’d hoped and we left calmer and more relaxed. Thank you to everyone who made our visit so restorative.
