We had a great stay here for the night. We needed to be in Midhurst for work nearby and then were going onto family the next day so it was great to have a night to ourselves between the two events. A lovely hotel full of individual charm. The staff were friendly and helpful. I needed to work from the hotel in the morning after checking out from my room but they were happy to keep my invoice open so that any coffee or snacks I ordered before leaving could simply be added to my bill. Would certainly stay again.

Visited for a one night dinner bed and breakfast package. The hotel room and customer service carried the experience. The room was very well maintained. A good size and immaculate - which was probably not easy given the age of building. The spa was small with no loungers left as it felt overbooked. Would have been ok, but not amazing, if there were less people. The restaurant let the experience down. Menu was samey and decidedly average in terms of flavours - had a vibe of ‘wedding food’. Factoring in supplements for the (tiny) steak and a sneaky 12.5% service charge it just wasn’t worth it. Breakfast the next morning however was good. Overall it wasn’t bad value for what we paid, but parts really detracted from bits done really well.

We had booked there for lunch during Petworth book festival at Midhurst college 15’ away and told the staff we had to be back there at 3pm. They pretended there was a problem in the kitchen while the table next to us who had arrived much after us and ordered later too got their dessert. 1h1/2 just to get a main course and be charged 12% service is not good. We won’t go back!

We had a wonderful stay at The Spread Eagle Hotel in Midhurst. From the moment we arrived at check in the service was exceptional. Our rooms were spotless, and full of character, we loved the hotel’s historic charm. The food was absolutely outstanding, and having dinner in the private dining room made the evening feel extra special. Our waiter, Horace, was wonderful and looked after us so well. On our 2nd day, after the wonderful breakfast we followed one of the hotel’s recommended walks, past the castle and through the woods, it was a beautiful walk! It was a girls’ weekend, and everything — the setting , food, and service — made it very special. We all agreed it was a great choice and great value! We would highly recommend and will definitely return.

We had a wonderful stay and were lucky to get a great value deal direct with the hotel for a midweek stay. Paid a little extra for the larger, 4 poster, bedroom and it was worth it. A beautiful room with antiques, comfortable bed, charming details and modern bathroom. The dinner service and food excellent. The pool area was clean and the spa treatment really relaxing. Chloe was fantastic and I really enjoyed my treatments; massage and facial with her. Such a wonderful and historical building with interesting objects, displays and paintings. Open fires in the bar and twinkly candles add to a romantic but comfortable and laid back atmosphere. The creaky floors and sloping ceilings add to the charm of this traditional inn. We were made to feel so welcome by all the staff; they are an asset to the hotel. Thank you.

Visited with wife for Saturday lunch with a walk around Midhurt & Cowdry Park afterwards. Pigeon, followed by rump steak and sticky toffee pudding, very nice meal & friendly service. Have been here many times over the years & always have an enjoyable meal or stay.
