Property Description
Check your worries at the door and embrace the soothing serenity of Ironwood, a luxurious 3-bed, 2-bath vacation home in Little River. This property, with 3 acres of land all to yourself on the gorgeous Mendocino Coast, sleeps 10 and is the perfect place for a family holiday, friends trip, or weekend retreat. 10 minutes south of Mendocino and 20 minutes south of Fort Bragg, Ironwood is a short drive away from hiking trails, restaurants, art galleries, shopping, breweries and pubs, and groceries, but it’s on a secluded property that feels worlds away from the stress of everyday life. It’s ideally situated for jaunts to the beach, forest, waterfalls, and other natural wonders. Plus, thanks to its high-speed internet, you can work remotely, stream movies and games, and reap all the benefits of connectivity – with partial ocean views. When you arrive, your hardest decision will be which of the many fabulous amenities of this airy, light-filled home you want to sample first. Inside, sink into the plush, gigantic couch in the living room and enjoy the peaceful forest view, put a movie on the smart TV (one of four in the house), or set up for game night. Outside, children will enjoy the play area with swings, a slide, and a zipline, while adults can challenge each other to a friendly basketball game. If you’re looking for a lower-impact activity, roam the property in search of wildflowers or mushrooms, depending on the season. For pure relaxation, dip into the hot tub. At night, the view of the stars is stunning. The spacious, fully-equipped kitchen with ample, granite counter space makes it easy for your crew to whip up a feast. With a top of the line 4-burner gas stove, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee-maker, dishwasher, and large refrigerator – not to mention a Weber grill and a Blackstone grill outside – everything is on the table, so let the master chefs in your group embrace their creativity. Dine indoors or al fresco (in your choice of two dining areas outdoors) and gather ‘round the fire pit afterwards for drinks, stories, and s’mores. When you retire for the night, you won’t have to fight with each other to claim your favorite room because all three bedrooms have spacious layouts, comfortable beds, smart TVs, and plenty of storage. The first bedroom has two queen beds and an en-suite bathroom with a tub and shower. The second bedroom has two queen beds, and the third one has a king bed. A twin bed in the laundry room would be perfect for a teen who wants their own space on the family vacation. The house also features workspaces for business travelers, and eco-travelers can charge EVs at the neighboring Andiron Inn. Adventurous travelers will find plenty to explore in the area. The closest beach, at Van Damme State Park, offers fire pits and a beautiful view. If you head inland, an easy trail takes you through a lush, fern-filled canyon, and a longer trail takes you to a pygmy forest. Russian Gulch State Park has a famed waterfall trail, as well as a picnic area with bridge views to rival Big Sur. The lighthouse at Point Cabrillo blends history with an expansive view of the Pacific and the “Devil’s Punchbowl” sinkhole. Big River Beach is a clean white sand beach and local favorite – the quintessential Mendo experience. Relax on the beach, go driftwood-hunting, check out the sandbar, or kayak or hike along Big River. Those who enjoy the arts will not be disappointed: the Mendocino Coast draws artists in every medium. The Mendocino Art Center and a variety of galleries dot the coast, offering a glimpse into our talented community of local artists. The Mendocino Theatre Company features world-class thespians performing both classic and modern works. Annual events like the Mendocino Music Festival and Mendocino Film Festival host musicians and filmmakers from around the world. Meanwhile, culinary artists elevate local cuisine with flavors that will delight the palate. From the Little River Inn and Albion River Inn just down the street from Ironwood to Fort Bragg’s many restaurants, the Mendocino Coast will win your heart. Enjoy outstanding Mexican food in Fort Bragg, incredibly fresh seafood in Noyo Harbor, and European-style cafes in Mendocino, to name a few of the award-winning dining options.
