The George at Nunney

Very flavoursome food with lovely attention to detail and good service. Vegetarians well catered for in the starters, slightly less so in the mains.

The hotel was clean, staff were friendly, the room spacious and quiet, and the breakfast was really good. They cater to needing gluten free food really well with the full cooked breakfast which is always nice! I've taken off one star for the parking situation. Although the hotel has free parking it is really limited and behind a door locked with a padlock which you need to call them to get the code to unlock. Because it's also a pub the poor bar staff are trying to both serve and sort out the hotel guests so I had to call quite a few times to get the code and then when we got in it was full so we had to go back out, lock the door, then call three times again to ask what to do next. We were told we'd need to go park in a car park. I explained we were here for an event and I'd be drinking (hence booking a hotel) so I'd need somwhere that did overnight, and they gave a couple places as suggestions. We had left an hour to check in and refresh before the taxi arrived which should have been enough time, but because of the parking situation we had to push the taxi back and their next slot meant we arrived an hour later than planned to the event. We drove around trying to find parking and luckily in the end found a private road to park in so we didn't have to pay, but it was quite stressful. The other star I've taken off is because for me the bed and pillows were quite hard. I had one soft pillow so took off the hard one and just used that, but it was really shallow and I'm used to having my head higher up. That's a personal preference thing so I'd say if you like a firm mattress and pillow this would probably be a 4 star stay for you 😊.

Lovely traditional Inn Lovely traditonal Inn on a beautiful country village. Stunning view of the River and Nunney Castle from our room. Room was clean and qaint with a modern ish bathroom. Had all the amenities we needed and the staff could not be nicer or do more for me and my 10 year old Son. Definitely recommend and will be coming back.
