Canopy by Hilton Memphis Downtown Beale Street

Affordable Luxury in Downtown Memphis. I was in Memphis for one of my Food adventures and decided to try The Canopy near Beale Street. At the time of my booking, the hotel was less than two hundred dollars per night, even with the taxes and charges. The hotel is modern and has much to offer. The lobby and ground floor have a restaurant, a bar, and there is a coffee shop just outside the expansive hotel lobby. The hotel has all of the amenities that you would want, such as a state-of-the-art fitness center with modern fitness and cardio equipment. The rooms are ergonomically laid out and seem bigger than they actually are. The beds are very comfortable, and my king suite came with a long hallway behind the bedroom wall that had a bench, a closet, and a pull-out refrigerator, all in the corridor to the spa-like bathroom. The bathroom was spacious and clean and had an ample supply of towels and toiletries. The only issue I had was that the floor was dirty just beneath the window, and there was some debris on my carpet and floor. I called the front desk, and while I was out and about on Beale Street, housekeeping came and immaculately cleaned not just my floor and carpet but the whole room. One nuance of the hotel that might affect some guests is that Charlie Rendezvous Charcoal Ribs, an iconic Memphis rib spot, is right next door to the hotel. The smoke from the restaurant permeates through the hotel. If you like ribs and the smell of charcoal, you will be fine. If you don't, then be aware that the building's ventilation picks up the smoke and smells from next door.

We recently enjoyed another nice stay at the Canopy Hilton in downtown Memphis. Great location with a wonderful staff. I’d like to give a special shout out to valet Billy, the BEST Hilton representative to welcome guests as they arrive and offer a warm sendoff as they depart. He is an absolute ray of sunshine, helpful in every way, and just pure joy. We look forward to our next stay!

For being a 4 star hotel it was not up to standard. The bathroom was not clean, dirt and grime was in the corners of the shower pan and along the glass door. A poor job was done to fix issues like gaps between the tile, which were sloppily caulked over. I’ve stayed in 2.5 star Holiday Inns with cleaner restrooms.

Nice modern hotel. I liked the decent sized bathroom and the room (at the rear of the property) was quiet at night. I found breakfast choices a bit limited in the hotel and it was all al la carte, so no buffet available. The hotel seemed quiet when I was there with few people eating or drinking in the lobby/restaurant. Air-conditioning in the room was noisy, but overall a decent hotel and well located.

Beware of the Curfew bar and the 18% service charge. Stopped in with a friend yesterday and we both had 2 double Buffalo Trace whisky's, no food. Not a craft cocktail but a hand pour by the bartender. Bill $182.72 which included a $32 tip. I travel all the time and have never encountered this. I know hotel bars are expensive but this was ridiculous. I'll never go there again!

I am a Diamond member and have stayed at a lot of Hiltons. This should not be a Canopy. The lobby looks nice and the rooms are OK, but the service is absolutely terrible. No one present at the valet, the receptionist does not greet you or offer water, and told us she doesn't know where a luggage cart is. The housekeeper came into our room which we know because they replaced the coffee pods and took out the trash but they did absolutely nothing else (no new sheets, towels).
