Douglas on Third

Room #3: Upgraded victorian, very well done. Clean, Cute, Very Small, my wife and I aren't tall, nor are we big. The shower felt like a coffin, and there is no way some of my friends would be able to shower in it. Elbows hit each side with no effort. The sink area again, Tiny!! There's a sign that mentions the water temp taking time to warm up, fortunately we never encountered a problem with temp or pressure. That's all the good stuff; the floors were all uneven, an quite honestly dangerous. Throughout the room the floors were either high, or low, step up, or step down, uneven, & pitched. Geez, I almost fell into the shower because the floor stepped down. There was not one single place in the room where my wife and I could stand facing each other. Again, the place is cute, and remodeled very nicely, however all in all NOT a $300 a night room. They have you over a barrel because the choices are limited in the area. The online photos are well done, and really do display the work that went into this room, but in no way show just how small it is. One of the more "reasonable" options is a hotel chain that although not the best probably would have suited us just fine for the two night stay we had. We will not be staying here again. PS, almost forgot the parking in the back of the building. There are about 10 parking spots, very good. However when it's time to leave you have to back out. CRAZY!!

Excellent experience. Very good communication and everything was very easy. The accommodations were exactly as described--and even a little better! Many little details, like make-up remover packages, very nice robes, different types of pillows to aid sleep, were all thoughtfully provided. The location is fantastic. Close to everything. There is no real lobby to speak of and no front desk. But there is a common area more like a library you can hang out if you want and any text or email is replied to very promptly with any questions.

This was our first trip to Oregon wine country and we chose to stay at Douglas on Third based on its location and great pricing. Our room was the owner’s suite #8 which had a sitting area, kitchen, bathroom with a claw foot tub/shower combo, and a separate sleeping area with a king bed. It looked exactly as pictured on the website. The suite was what we would consider somewhat ‘tight quarters’ at 334 sq. feet but was immaculately clean and we were able to get towel replenishments and such using a paper form which we placed in a basket outside our door. As clearly stated on the website, the hotel rooms at Douglas on Third are all on the second floor and there is no elevator, luggage lift, or ramp. If you have difficulty with steep stairs or carrying your own luggage up steep stairs, this is not the hotel for you. If that is not an issue, then you should be fine. Again, this was advertised on the website, so we were not expecting an elevator but the stairs were somewhat steep (especially in back where you park). The location of the hotel is perfect and in the center of town where we could walk everywhere. We felt that Douglas on Third was a good value hotel with a very reasonable room rate and excellent location.

Location is great. Quirky but very nice room.

Excellent accommodation. As comfortable as nearby higher priced places. Great location. Front access good, back stairs less so. Will be back!
