I was incredibly satisfied. This is the best value hotel I've stayed in the UK. Even though it's near the manor, there's a restaurant on the first floor, making it very convenient for dining. The front desk was also very friendly, and the dinner was quite good. There's also an RV park next to the hotel. If you get off at Sheffield, take bus 218 back past Darcy Manor, then transfer to bus 6 or 1, which takes seven minutes. Remember to walk a few minutes further and cross a small bridge to get there, as navigation isn't always accurate. The local bus is just like a taxi. I originally wanted a taxi to the hotel, but an Uber was £138, which wasn't worth it, so I just took the bus. The scenery along the way was stunning, and it was a wonderful trip.

Stayed for a night whilst visiting the areas attractions. An attractive old pub with character as we often expect with Marstons Inns. We had a good quiet night's sleep

I'll start with the goos things: the staff is great, we got superb service and everyone were very nice and helpful. We had 2 heavy luggages and we got help to bring them up to the room and down when we left. Parking is also very convenient right in from of the inn. The location is pretty good, short drive to all the main attractions of Peak District. But - the actual location of the inn, Matlock, is rather boring and unattractive (not the owner's fault, but something to consider when booking here. Don't expect a nice view from your window. The bigger issue is the inn. It's pretty much a pub with rooms upstairs, as you go up to the rooms everything looks neglected and poor. The room itself is average but the bathroom looks really bad. The tiny size could work if it was aesthetic and nice, which it was far from. To be honest if this is 4 stars I'd recommend renovation, starting with the bathrooms.

The room which we had was very small overlooking bins while the room my brother and sister inlaw had was large and we paid same money. The staff ate very young not realy interested in customers just talking to their friends. The bar was so cold one night the doors were open we asked for fire on they said no offered blankets this was at 9 o'clock they just seemed to want everyone out which did happen to cold to sit in there. One good staff member was tom who served breakfast he was realy friendly and did great job. Realy must sort staff out

Lovely pub with rooms set in spectacular scenery in the beautiful village of Rowsley in the Derbyshire peak district. The bar and restaurant areas are really well designed, cosy and great to look at. The superb barman, Jack, was a real credit to hospitality and so skilled at engaging with people of all ages. He definitely deserves a pay rise, as does the excellent gent who served our lovely breakfasts. He was full of local knowledge, helpful, and served us superbly. The hotel is situated very close to The Rowsley village, a lovely village of courtyards, restaurants, cafes, shops and Bamford auction house. Well worth checking out. Loads of lovely walks close to hotel too. Would definitely return again.

Super comfortable rooms - really well appointed, spacious and clean. Good bathroom facilities. Crisp white linen on the beds and fluffy white towels. Well stocked tea & coffee station in the room. A pity one of the china cups was badly chipped though!!!
