We had pre booked and we were glad we had as the pub was busy. The table service room was full so we had to sit in the bar area. Although we should have gone to the bar to order our food Michelle was happy to serve us at the table. We didn't have to wait long for our meals and we all enjoyed what we had. 2 lasagne and 2 sausage and mash.

Lovely pub with rooms set in spectacular scenery in the beautiful village of Rowsley in the Derbyshire peak district. The bar and restaurant areas are really well designed, cosy and great to look at. The superb barman, Jack, was a real credit to hospitality and so skilled at engaging with people of all ages. He definitely deserves a pay rise, as does the excellent gent who served our lovely breakfasts. He was full of local knowledge, helpful, and served us superbly. The hotel is situated very close to The Rowsley village, a lovely village of courtyards, restaurants, cafes, shops and Bamford auction house. Well worth checking out. Loads of lovely walks close to hotel too. Would definitely return again.

We reserved a room for one night, arrived to find that they had booked us in the wrong night and was told by the manager that we would not be able to stay. He apologised but did not appear concerned that they had made the error .we had to find an alternative place to stay and ended up staying quite a distance from where we needed to be. Fawlty Towers comes to mind!

We stayed at the Hotel during the recent heatwave and had a lovely stay. Fans were provided in the room but were unfortunately ineffective (exchanged but still ineffective). Well appointed rooms and clean bathroom, comfy bed and lots of power points in the room for charging phones etc. One bizarre practice to watch out for. If you pre-book breakfast (full cooked or continental) you then get charged £3.75 for a bottomless cup of tea or coffee. We've never come across this anywhere on our travels in the UK or abroad and it smacks of being taken for a ride by the vendors. It was a big NO NO for us and completely unacceptable. I'd recommend they change this immediately.

Booked this for a relaxed night away for myself and my husband as a birthday treat. Firstly we were advised the last order for food was 7.45pm. As we’d had a late lunch this was too early for us so we had to go out to eat. Secondly our room was stifling even though it wasn’t that hot at the time. Thirdly…and most annoying, we were woken at stupid o’clock by workmen drilling in the car park right outside our bedroom . I informed reception that I wasn’t at all happy and felt disappointed as we were hoping for a relaxed stay. I was promised that the hotel manager would contact me to discuss the issues. I’ve waited almost a month and still no contact. Extremely poor customer service, I expected better from such a large chain but will certainly not book with them in future
