I don’t usually write reviews, but my stay at The Gables was so good I felt it deserved one. Sue and her husband went out of their way to make everything enjoyable. The level of care and genuine friendliness they showed is rare to find. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Gables to anyone visiting this part of England — you simply won’t find better hosts.

Very friendly and professional owners. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. Highly recommend. Lovely clean room, tasty breakfast and as long as you love hills and beautiful scenery, this is the place to stay.

Me & partner have just returned from this stunning place. John & sue couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, great choice from fresh fruit platters, cereal to a cooked English breakfast . We stayed in the derwent suite & it was absolutely amazing. Stunning clean, fresh water & milk daily in the fridge. We couldn’t recommend the gables enough & we are already thinking of booking to come back here again. Thank you

Amazing service, the people were incredibly kind and the view was absolutely breathtaking and the english breakfast is delicious, probably the best I've ever had! The room was very cozy, and the pillows were incredibly fluffy, best sleep we had in a long while!!

Sue & John a great hosts - very good breakfast and accommodation. Despite the dreadful storms outside we had a great nights sleep - very comfortable room and bed. The location provides terrific views - providing you do not mind the incredibly steep lane to the property. We loved our stay

Very welcoming Bed and Breakfast. Very clean and comfortable. Sue and John are great hosts. Lovely breakfast cooked to order. Sue did us the courtesy of calling to warn us of snow in Matlock. Made the hill fun to get up, but didnt stop Uber picking us up and dropping us in the town. Would be nice to return in summer months to enjoy the views and have a nice walk down into Matlock, or Matlock Bath. Highly recommend.

This was our first time in Matlock, UK and at The Gables Bed & Breakfast. Our B&B hosts were absolutely wonderful, ensuring our stay was outstanding! Our room was large, comfortable, well appointed, and the view was amazing. We had a mini fridge and a stock of tea, hot chocolate and fresh water. The walk-in bathroom was beautiful, with large fluffy towels. The breakfasts were delicious with a great choice. All in all we would definitely recommend The Gables Bed and Breakfast in Matlock.

Lovely B&B. The owners have thought of everything! Rooms are individually decorated. The whole place is warm and cosy, spotlessly clean. Up a very steep hill, but lovely views across the valley. Not too long a walk into Matlock and Matlock Bath, but remember coming back is all up hill! Breakfast was lovely, with everything being sourced locally. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners.
