Le Riad Monceau

Just the quaintest 10 room Riad but so much going on. Situated in the heart of the Medina it’s perfect to walk anywhere. The staff are amazing

We booked 4 nights in the honeymoon suite at Riad Monceau but left after the first night due to serious health and safety issues. The suite consists of a bedroom and an adjoining bathroom with a hot tub, but there is virtually no ventilation — just a small, ineffective extractor fan in the bathroom and a large open hole inside a wardrobe connecting the two rooms. The bathroom walls and ceiling were extensively covered in black mould. The entire suite felt and smelt extremely damp + foetid, including the bedding, curtains, and rug. Overnight, my partner spent much of the night coughing due to the air quality, and by morning we were both feeling groggy and chesty from the damp. The hot tub had no accessible controls and appeared to run continuously throughout the day. When we returned to the room after being out and attempted to use it, my partner suffered minor burns to her legs after just a few seconds in the water. Staff later shut the system off via a hidden circuit breaker. We appreciated that, after contacting the front-of-house manager (who had kindly given us her number earlier during a room service issue), she immediately sent someone to buy burn cream once we shared photos. After that first night, we made the decision to move to another hotel for our safety and comfort. Although staff were polite and apologetic in person, our follow-up complaint in writing made it clear that a refund for the remaining nights was not an option, which was disappointing given the severity of the situation. At the time, the manager did offer us a different room, but considering the condition of what is meant to be their flagship 'honeymoon suite', we didn’t feel comfortable — it left us with little confidence in the condition of the other rooms. The riad itself has charm — the bar and restaurant are stylish, and the atmosphere in the evenings is lively — but as a hotel, I would strongly suggest giving it a miss. One final note: the honeymoon suite is located directly beneath the rooftop bar. While the bar closes around 11:30 p.m., there was a lot of noise from staff packing down until around 1:00 a.m. — something to be aware of if you're hoping for a restful night or have early excursions.

This hotel s fantastic. Our room had a beautiful private jacuzzi tub and was wonderfully relaxing. The bed was very comfortable and amenities were good. They welcomed us with delicious Moroccan tea and pastries. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Some things to note, there are stairs, many narrow, this is not unusual for a Riad and is a part of it’s charm. Make a reservation for dinner at the hotel restaurant. It is one of the best in the Medina The live jazz was an added bonus to the wonderful food. The rooftop jacuzzi is by reservation only. It was nice and cool on the 34/100 degree days. Very peaceful and pleasant oasis in the heart of the Medina. The location was good. The major sites were within a short walk. I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough!

The hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful during the entire stay. We’re greeted with hot tea and pastries upon arrival. We were allowed to check in about an hour early. Restaurant on top of the roof is nice but we were unable to eat at the other restaurant on the base level because it was closed on the evening we wanted to eat without notice. Room was clean and spacious. Private patio was a plus! Room service came every day. Mini-bar in room is not included in stay. I would definitely recommend this Riad!

We had a wonderful stay at this charming 9-bedroom Riad in Morocco. The location was absolutely perfect—just a short walk to the main square, the medina, and all the key sights. What truly made our experience special was Chaymae, the main staff member, who looked after us from start to finish with such a warm and friendly personality. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her, and she made us feel right at home. The food was also excellent fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area! The jazz singers are another treat while we enjoyed our Dinner. Thank you to Chaymae and her staff.

The staff and service where really good and the room en riad looked verry nice. Only book here of you like music and staying up later. We had some early mornings and the jazz was playing till 11 pm. We didn't mind it but it is good to know when you are booking this riad. Also the swimming pool as shown on the pictures is not used for swimming just decoration. The location is right in the middle of the medina witch is awesome!
