Das Personal ist aussergewöhnlich. Preise gewisser Getränke sind nicht nachvollziehbar. 1 Aperol mit Orangensaft EUR 22. 1 Espresso EUR 5, OK. Ein doppelter Espresso (alles gleich wie einfacher Espresso: 1 Tasse, Untertasse, Löffel, 1mal Bringen, 1 Schokostück): EUR 10.

Me and my, now husband, stayed here at the end of September into the first week of October for our belated honeymoon. It was very quiet and extremely clean. BEACH The private beach here was absolutely incredible! I've never known a sea so crystal clear, the sand was also very clear with hardly any large stones and seaweed. I imagine the team clear away a large portion of any seaweed, although, it'd not exactly seaweed like you would normally get in the med, it was more little flakes of it. The team that provide towels and sunbeds are so very helpful. Taking you to a sunbed that you would prefer and setting it all out for you :-) We visited the beach bar, which was rather expensive, albeit I've been told is the going rate for the area, but something to consider when only going B&B. POOL The pool again, incredibly clean and very quiet. With members of the staff aiding with towels and getting sunbeds ready. Pool bar is great for getting some light lunch, with the gelato and coffees being a massive hit for us. Probably the second best macchiato I've had! Deivis at the pool bar was such a lovely man, always more than happy to help with a smile and no feel that this was ever at all forced. BREAKFAST & FOOD At breakfast there is a vast array of foods available. Hot scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, beans, courgette, mushrooms, sausage etc, with the option of having eggs cooked in a variety of ways, including an omelette. A wealth of fruit, cereals and yoghurts too. With the main attraction being the pastry selections, croissants, pain au chocs, vanilla filled rolls - just so many to be able to remember, but they were delightful. We treated ourselves to an evening meal at the Mediterraneo restaurant, it was 80 euros per person, for a 4 course meal. For starters there is a buffet style array of foods, followed by first course, second course and dessert. It was by far one of the best 4 course sittings I have had the opportunity to experience. All savoury food dazzled my taste buds. BUT the dessert, oh.my.gosh - food for the soul!! I would like to mention a particular lady called Debby, who was the most friendly there! I can't say I'm used to a 5 star hotel and she never ever made me feel inadequate or judged, always a smile on her face and very approachable. LOCATION You are located away from any supermarkets, with the closest being in Marinella, which is around a 15 minute walk away. There weren't masses of trinket shops around, but part of that was probably due to us arriving as the season was closing down. Porto Rotondo is around a 50 minute walk away, although the hotel does offer a shuttle van, which operates outwards twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon. Again, this might be different at other points in the holiday season. Also, this is the closest area that has a pharmacy, so just something to note. There is a train station very close by, however the trains did not operate all that frequently - again could be due to being at the tai

I booked Hotel Abi d’Oru expecting a seamless 5-star experience, but several aspects were disappointing. The good: – Breakfast offered plenty of options and was excellent. – The beach was beautiful, with chairs and towels readily available. – All of the hotel’s restaurants served great food with attentive service. – The restaurant and beach staff were consistently polite, helpful, and quick to assist. The bad: – On arrival, the room lock was broken. Maintenance partially fixed the bolt, but the electronic exterior lock was loose and couldn’t be properly repaired. Unfortunately, no alternative rooms were available. – Management was dismissive when addressing issues, which negatively affected the stay. – The fire alarm went off at 11 p.m. during my stay, which was very disruptive. – Housekeeping didn’t consistently replenish toiletries, so I had to call for basic items. – Housekeeping occasionally removed our robes without replenishing, which was inconvenient. – The gym wasn’t usable in the morning, as the power had been switched off. – For laundry, the only option for pressing a shirt was a full wash-and-iron service (around $20 per shirt). There were no irons available for guests, and only one communal steamer, quite limiting for a 5-star property. – The beach area had persistent solicitation from local sellers, and the hotel didn’t seem to manage it. – The drinks are overpriced, though that’s somewhat expected at a resort of this level. Overall: The property has potential, but operational issues like these detract from the experience. At a five star level, I expected better preparation, consistency, and guest support.

We stayed at Abi d’Oru, which means Golden Bee, in Porto Rotondo, Sardinia, arriving on a Sunday and departing the following Saturday—just after moving our daughter into college. What better way to decompress and celebrate my husband’s 51st birthday than with five full days on the magnificent Marinella Beach? We selected the half-board package and were delighted that we did. The breakfast buffet was everything you’d expect from a five-star boutique hotel: rich, varied, and beautifully presented. Our room was absolutely lovely and spotless. The bathroom was fantastic, with great water pressure and thoughtful design. There wasn’t a hint of wear and tear anywhere; every corner felt meticulously maintained. The property itself—the pool, the grounds, the groomed gardens, and the expansive views over Marinella Beach—were, quite simply, immaculate. My husband and I, both Italian-American, had been to mainland Italy before, but this was our first trip to Sardinia and our first time in Italy together. Porto Rotondo, with its charm and position along the Emerald Coast, felt like discovering another world. We adored the food. Although the hotel has three restaurants, we focused mainly on Mediterraneo and Tzia Maria, both of which were exceptional. The Sardinian dishes, paired with local wine, were unforgettable—so fresh and delicious, offering a delightful contrast to the southern Italian flavors we grew up with. Every meal felt like a celebration. The service was consistently warm and gracious. The team handled a melting pot of international guests, with English as the unifying language among the locals and visitors. It created a lively and cosmopolitan atmosphere. The beach, true to its famed reputation, was stunning. Marinella Beach features fine white sand and crystalline turquoise waters that shift through every imaginable shade of blue. The system for assigning loungers and umbrellas was organized and fair, smooth even during peak season. We watched the team manage challenges when some guests were less than gracious, and yet they remained calm and professional. A heartfelt thank you to Nicholas, whose attentiveness made our time on the sand effortless. Late August still felt like the height of summer, with families and children filling the beach with energy. Yet it was never overwhelming—just vibrant, alive, and thoroughly enjoyable. One helpful note for travelers: Sardinia is incredibly mountainous, with steep changes in elevation and winding roads full of twists and turns. The drive between the hotel and Porto Cervo was breathtaking but challenging. If you’re prone to motion sickness, taking Dramamine in advance would make the journey much more comfortable. Finally, every view from the rooms and terraces across the Gulf of Marinella was breathtaking, from sunlit mornings to golden evenings. It was, in every sense, a lovely experience. We left already looking forward to exploring more of Sardinia in the future.

Stayed at Hotel Abi d'Oru for 6 night late August/early September and had a wonderful experience. The place is gorgeous, close to the beach and the staff is super attentive. I enjoyed the restaurant the most, starting with a fantastic breakfast, with a great selection of fresh ripe fruit pastries and egg dishes, and usually ending with dinner there. The restaurant at the hotel is absolutely superb with a new menu every day and fantastic pasta dishes with truffles and ragouts and stuff. After trying to have dinner outside the hotel, a few nights, we ended up reverting to having dinner at the hotel as the food there was massively superior to other places. I wanted to mention how attentive, welcoming and friendly the staff was, in particular at the restaurant as well as the cleaning staff as it truly contributed to a great experience. Finally we also had a fantastic experience at the GUARINO shop at the hotel where the selection of clothing was absolutely superb and the salesperson, Constantina was just so nice and passionate about her job, often recommending pieces of clothing that we ended up buying, even calling my friend with a lot of affection in her eyes, a Bellissimo Bambini... In short it was a wonderful experience all around.
