We met as a family of 8 for lunch on Saturday 13th October. The service was outstanding and our food was excellent. We were celebrating a number of birthdays so the staff did everything to accommodate us and make the experience an enjoyable one. Thank you very much. 🙏❤️

A beautiful hotel . It had a lovely outdoor area, great food and great rooms in a very lovely setting . We had a lovely time here with friends . The complain I have is that the staff were miserable , one waitress dropped a tray of drinks over us and never cleaned it up . We were the only ones left in the pub at 21.30 , so we asked if it was ok if we sat in the bar for a while , we were met with a hostile staff member who obviously wanted to get home , so we felt forced to go to bed at 21.30 !

The Chequers is probably best thought of as a pub with rooms. That would often suggest late-night noise, but when we were there it was surprisingly quiet, even at a weekend, and was clearly winding down by 9.30. It is in the village of Maresfield, and if you choose this location it will probably be as a base for driving to other places in the area - but there are plenty within reasonable driving range. Our room was in good condition with a good comfortable bed, desk, chair and reasonable storage. The bathroom had a bath with a shower over it. You probably wouldn't want to spend a lot of your waking hours in your room, but of course you always have the option of going down to the bar, restaurant or garden. There was a good buffet breakfast, with a choice of freshly-cooked options. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, a good example of the pub-with-rooms style. Not one that really stands out from the pack, but one to which we'd happily return if the location worked for us.

The room was very spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had a lovely meal, the gammon was juicy and flavoursome and the lamb shank was beautifully cooked. Desserts were tasty. Check out is not until 11am, which makes for a relaxing departure. Would definitely stay here again.

The room was so hot and we couldn’t open the window . The bed was terrible . The choice of food was poor and average when it arrived . Several things on the menu were not available. Breakfast croissants etc had run out . The staff were friendly and helpful but housekeeping did not make up our room . The hotel needs a makeover as it looks extremely tired .

Had a lovely stay here for one night. The room was perfect, the shower was possibly the best I’ve had when staying in hotels in terms of pressure and heat. The room was clean and bed was comfy. Had more than enough plug points. Had a nice big mirror with plug point next to it, perfect for using the hairdryer. Also had an iron and ironing board in the room. Tea/coffee and biscuits and enough milk. I didn’t eat here, there was no food, unsure if that’s Sunday evenings or because the football was on and I didn’t have breakfast here either. Staff were friendly and helpful too. I would highly recommend.

A pleasant, comfortable place with a mildly oldy-world feel to it but with excellent service. Our room, as requested, was on the ground-floor in small separate building where everything including shower-room was spotless. Minor maintance issues, nothing serious though. There was a problem with sound insulation to the room above, could clearly hear people moving about in room above but fortuately this was only short duration. Full English breafast was generous, tasty and enjoyable with exception of tomatoe which was tough. Also had the smoked salmon on scrambled eggs - excellent, the salmon topping was flavourful and generous, the eggs were almost as good as my own home-cooked! Overall I'd recommend it without hesitation despite the few quibbles and we'd definitely stay there again.

Lovely food, friendly staff, warm atmosphere and great price. Nothing was too much trouble, the restaurant is cosy and comfortable. The food was full of flavour and all came out well presented. I would fully recommend dinner and desert. One of our favourite places to Dine out.
