Rainbow Bend Resort

Rainbow bend was a bad start on our 10 vacation i Florida. Our arrival was delayed for one day, and we could not change that online (within 3 day advance change limit) Send email, no answer. At check-in late in the evening we could not find any employees, the room had a bad smell, floor sticky and dirty. Only one pillow and no towels. Noisy traffic and a trash dump just behind the fence. Next morning we tried to explain the situation to the lady at the reception, but she could not do anything, and the boss was out of reach. We ended up paying 376USD for one night! Go somewhere else!

We arrived for a late weekend stay and the resort did not meet our expectations based on the description from the website and reviews. I’m not going to bash the resort for this because to others, the resort may be just fine. We checked in, saw our room and walked around the resort. The room appeared clean and comfortable. It was tucked behind the restaurant without windows, just a French door to a hallway, very claustrophobic. What made us leave immediately was the smell of the resort, the bugs, and an overall “something is off” gut feeling. I get that there is “that smell” throughout the keys but it was everywhere on the property. Like almost unbearable. There is a little cove on the pool side of the property that is so full of debris and garbage and is really really off putting, I imagine this didn’t help the smell. But in the 10-15 minutes we were there, the little bugs attacked more than I’ve ever experienced. I could not escape them. We stayed at 4 places hopping down the keys and never did I get bit like that. We were pretty chill people so for us to leave it took a lot. Now here is the part that made me give one star. We went to the desk immediately after check in to ask if we could leave and cancel our reservation. The girl at the desk assured us it would be fine. So we left. The resort proceeded to charge us four separate transactions. After many phone calls and reassurances “it will all be fine,” they have still proceeded to charge us. We are back home now and they have stopped answering our calls. I’m now working with my bank. I would highly advise against this resort. My gut when we walked in that was something was off was pretty spot on. Side note do not expect early check in. They keep the doors locked and won’t let you in a minute before 4pm to check in. It’s just weird there compared to all the other resorts. So yeah, they will lie to you and then stonewall you after they have your money.

I checked into Rainbow Bend Resort and left just 10 minutes later. The room was not properly cleaned and had bugs, which made it unlivable. The manager was not on site, and it took three days to even reach her by phone. Even then, there was no genuine interest in addressing the issues. I would not recommend this property unless major improvements are made to cleanliness and management responsiveness.
