Exôtico Beach & Rooms

The hotel is small (17 rooms) but very clean, tidy, and nicely organized around the pool and restaurant. Check-in and check-out were smooth and easy. The staff were very friendly and helpful—we even lost a charger, and they managed to organize a replacement from town within just two hours. The restaurant is very good, though a bit on the expensive side. The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants nearby and Puerto Viejo reachable by car in under 15 minutes. Personally, I found going by bike too dangerous. A real highlight is the possibility to use the beach facilities of their partner hotel. The staff there were also very friendly, and thanks to a quick call from our receptionist, we had beach chairs reserved in the front row. There, you can dive straight into the ocean—something you can’t do directly at the beach of exotico beach. A stroll along the beach is also possible, and I even enjoyed a 20-minute run there in the morning, which was amazing. We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed the many possibilities the region has to offer. Would I come back? Yes.

The pool and the facilities are really nice. I didn't much care for the breakfast or the room not having a dedicated bathroom with a door. That can make it uncomfortable for those who need some privacy. Staff is great and the bed is comfortable.

We spent 5 wonderful days at the Exotico Hotel. Everything was absolutely perfect. The room, the lunch, the beach... But, above all, we will keep fond memories of the welcome received in this unique hotel. Thank you all and we really hope to be able to come back. We toured Costa Rica in different hotels but you are truly the best. Thank you and I wish you all the best !

Best experience ever. Highly recommend! This facility and its staff are amazing beyond description. We spent two glorious weeks and felt like family when we left. The dining options were great and the service excellent. The environment surrounding the property was filled with monkey's and birds. Short walk to the beach and the town of Manzanillo.

Magical place amongst the trees and only a very short wander to the beach. Monkeys swinging during the daytime and frogs only a quick search away at night. It’s a small hotel with most rooms looking out at the pool area. Relatively thin walls but we didn’t mind waking up early on this trip. 2 or 3 nights would perfect if visiting without a car as taxis need to come from Puerto Viejo for trips further afield. Almost faultless however our only criticism would be that dietary requirements actively requested by the hotel were not reflected at the restaurant/fore breakfast. We loved the shrimp tacos and the plantain tacos. They don’t shout about the beach at this property but they do allow you to visit their sister property Awa so that you can enjoy a day out at Punta Uva.

Super loud construction going on next door and no warning put out by the hotel. Rooms do not have blackout shades for all the windows and very bright. Photos of villas very misleading with all rooms being separate and not one building, living room is outside. Horrible customer, I’ve been left waiting hours to talk to the manager to find a solution. Save your money, Do not book here!
