It was an amazing experience!! We had a lot of fun and the staff took care of us very well. The workers are so kind and took the time to get to know our names, even though we were there for less than a week. Highly recommend! You will have a great time!

Tulemar Resort is an amazing setting for vacation. My wife and I saw several sloths, monkeys, toucans, scarlet macaw, and an array of other animals. birds, and bats all from our balcony or the Tulemar Cafe. What sets Tulemar apart from anywhere else we've been; however, is the people that work in the resort. We have taken some amazing trips - but never, on any vacation, have we received the level of kindness and exceptional service that we found there in Tulemar. They are the top of the top. Jorge, our concierge, made sure that every single experience we dreamed up - from visiting the National Park, catamaran tours, and waterfalls to surfing in Dominical - happened no matter what. Vanessa, our housekeeper, kept Casita Panorama spotlessly clean during our stay and even helped us with some laundry - so amazing! Our beach attendant, David was ready with chairs, an umbrella, and a table whenever we needed him. The shuttle drivers were such an incredible group of guys - they greeted us with a smile every single time we called on them. Even if we were walking a few steps around the resort, they always waved hello. The servers, and bartenders in the Cafe always pointed us in the right direction for food and drinks - they made us feel as if we were dining in one of our favorite spots back home. We hope to visit Tulemar again on our next trip to Costa Rica!

Our favorite vacation spot. Walking distance from many restaurants and shops. Locals are super friendly and we always feel safe. Highly recommend white water rafting and surf school. Drinks and good on the beach are a perfect add

This review is for Monkitail and Tulemar resort. Monkitail and Tulemar its entirety is just magical. We stayed for 8 days with my 7 year old daughter and it was one of the best vacations we had thanks to the staff and amenities at Tulemar resort. First off, Raul, our concierge was outstanding and so thoughtful. He helped with setting up all our excursions and making sure that we were all set for our adventures, which was so helpful. He also scheduled our private pick up from San Jose to Tulemar (Melvin our driver to Tulemar was equally as wonderful). Raul treated us daily with treats from Manuel Antonio (desserts and fresh coconuts). He is an amazing treat that comes with the Monkitail villa. We also had shuttle service at Tulemar to drive us to the beach location and wherever we wanted within the resort - a few shoutouts to Alex, Stewart, and Axle! They were all thoughtful, insighful, and such a pleasure to get to know within the eight days that we were there. One of the best things at Tulemar is the private beach that it has. We went to the beach there almost everyday and David was so helpful in getting us the right beach chairs, location on the beach, and towels. He is truly a beach master. The best thing is that they serve drinks and food at the beach, which is so helpful, especially with a little one. All in all, Tulemar was a spectacular treat and Monkitail villa made it that much better.

We stayed at Casa Panorama and it blew us away. I’ve been to Costa Rica over two dozen times and this is in my top two places I’ve ever stayed. I appreciated how this was nestled into the forest in a way that still promotes biodiversity- we saw three species of monkeys, sloths, agoutis, macaws, you name it. We will definitely come back!

Tulemar was amazing! I almost don’t know where to begin. We chose Tulemar for its proximity to the beach and abundance of animals and it did not disappoint! The beach was gorgeous - beautiful landscape and plenty for the kids to explore (hermit crabs, crabs, iguanas, and something like crawfish in the stream running down). Plus the waves were perfect for boogie boarding (for parents and kids alike). As for the wildlife on the Tulemar grounds - it was incredible! We saw tons of monkeys (squirrel monkeys, white face monkeys, howler monkeys), multiple sloth (including a mommy and baby sloth), toucan (one toucan in particular perched outside our villa each night!), and Macaus. We did not visit the national park because we had read that the wildlife on the Tulemar property was so extensive, and I think that was right (although I am sure the park is lovely as well). We stayed in the Belleza Verde - it was breathtaking! Beautiful, beautiful property! We loved sitting on the patio by the pool and watching all of the animals right in the backyard. There were other properties around, but it felt very secluded. It was a bit of a trek to the beach (downhill on the way there, uphill coming back), but we didn’t think it was too bad and we really enjoyed the walk because that was where you would see all of the animals. The younger two kids (9, 10) thought the walking was a bit much, but our 14-year-old is fine with it. I note that there was a shuttle that you could call to pick you up and drive you around wherever, including to restaurants that were just off of the resort property, but we just walked everywhere. Our concierge Raul was excellent! He arranged all of our excursions for us (we did a waterfall excursion and zip lining - both were excellent and perfect for our family), stocked our fridge with groceries in advance, facilitated meals with our chef, and did everything else in between. He would also send me a text with our itinerary for the next day, which I found very helpful. We flew in and out of San Jose, and Raul also arranged our transportation to and from the airport to the resort. It was about a 3 hour drive but very very scenic on the way there. The driver also stopped on the way so that we could eat lunch and see the crocodiles. I also cannot say enough wonderful things about our chef, Marco. We knew when we booked the Villa that we had daily breakfast with a personal chef included, but I must confess that we didn’t really know what that meant until we arrived. Marco would not only come to make us breakfast (whichever time we requested), that could also come to make us lunch or dinner, if we wanted. The chef is really just with your villa to schedule as much as you like - you pay for the groceries and a tip only. (Note that if you don’t use your chef, it’s not like he’s working at a different villa. It just means that then he doesn’t get any work for that week.). It was really a big perk. The kids absolutely loved hav

We recently returned home from our 5 night stay at Tulemar Resort. Overall, we had an amazing experience and each member in our family had different favorite moments. This was our first time to Tulemar so I learned some things I would do differently if we do return back. What I misunderstood was that the villas and bungalows are independently owned and the owners decide pricing and how each place is decorated and upgraded. When I reserved our bungalow I read so many reviews and I thought we would get one of the nicer ones. This was my error. What I reserved was the most basic and honestly uncomfortable, old and just unappealing bungalows which still cost around $650/night. Immediately after walking into the bungalow I contacted our concierge and asked to be moved. The resort was sold out but for 2 nights we had the option to move to a villa for the price difference of $130 a night. We took it immediately and the difference was night and day! The villa was beautifully decorated, very comfortable and had a jacuzzi on its deck. This villa was the vision of what I thought we rented. Sadly, we had to move back to the original booking for the remainder of our stay and I hated it. One of the nights our air conditioning decided to stop and although our concierge called the engineers and they did fix the problem it just added to my unhappiness with this rental. Any type of negative experiences is only with this terrible bungalow and nothing to do with any of the resort staff (who are wonderful!). Our concierge, Laura, was quick to respond and very friendly. She was also very knowledgeable and we loved all of her suggestions. The shuttle service was very quick and I loved how they would stop and show me all the animals. Johan and Axel were wonderful shuttle drivers and loved seeing them throughout the day. And David at the beach was always friendly . Always greeting with a smile and made sure our beach stay was comfortable. Now to my favorite part - the animals. We had so many monkeys on our deck and being next to them felt priceless. They are definitely used to humans and one of them decided to go into our jacuzzi while I was sitting next to it. And on our last night as we left our bungalow to get some ice cream we happened to come across a sloth that was on our neighbors porch. The sloth stayed for 2 hours moving between beams and she even came inches to me as I was siting on the bench admiring her. This moment meant everything to me and was the perfect conclusion to our adventure in Costa Rica.

We stayed at Tulemar for our daughter’s senior trip… it’s where they chose to go… and I’m so glad they did! Our family of 4 had a fantastic time here! Costa Rica is phenomenal… as is this resort and ALL of the staff! Miguel was tremendous both before we arrived and once we made it to CR. He’s the best! Stuart and Axel (sorry if I’ve missed spelled names) drove us all over the resort and helped greet us and provide exceptional service and smiles! I literally can not say enough about all the staff we encountered… sorry I know I’ve forgotten some names… but they were so patient and kind after I injured my calf muscle (because I was having too much fun and forgot I’m not 20-something still) I felt safe and appreciated all of their insight and interactions! Everything we needed or requested was delivered with smiles and a genuine sense of care. Miguel’s assistance with tours and travel gave us the ability to relax as he is excellent at his job! My daughter and I had tears when we departed while saying goodbye to our Tulemar friends! I know some of the magic is Pura Vida and Costa Rica in general BUT Tulemar is also a magical, joy inducing place!
