Magnuson Grand Pikes Peak

The hotel is in poor condition with very few amenities. It's too far away from the shops and restaurants to walk and there is NO free parking in Manitou Springs, so not very convenient. The staff was friendly, but not very helpful. I won't stay there again.

Let me start with the positive. The hotel was clean and quiet. Now the bad news. The soap dispenser in the shower was empty and there was no one available to fill it on day one. Also, there was no hair dryer in the room (which they advertise will be in each room). The front desk was not able to provide one until the second day. Also on the second day the lady filled the soap dispenser in the shower, but when I took a shower the next morning, guess what - it was empty. The problem was the dispenser leaked, and it had all run out during the night. In addition to this, the TV would not work. I talked to the front desk, they told me it was probably just the weather. I tried unplugging it and restarting it, but nothing helped. When I went to breakfast 6:30 (their advertised starting time), the eggs and sausage were cold. The unit holding them had no power. So I decided to get a waffle. The container containing the waffle batter was completely empty. On day two, when I returned to the hotel after doing business, I was pleased to see they had fixed the television. It was on and working. My job quickly turned to frustration once discovering that the TV remote would not change channels, it was stuck on ESPN. There were no buttons on the TV either.

The hotel was easy to find but parking is sparse. I had a king room on the 2nd floor with a small balcony that overlooks the parking lot... The bed was comfortable for a single person that could sleep in the middle, both sides had dips in the mattress. Lots of pillows and sufficient bedding for comfort without having to turn up the heat. No hair dryer in the room, called the front desk and they brought "the last one" upstairs immediately! Overall, a C+. Compared to the "look" of other hotels in the immediate area, a B+!

We stayed here two nights on our Colorado trip and couldn't have been happier! The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. It is conveniently located to Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, and downtown Manitou Springs. I'm not a picky eater and appreciate a continental breakfast. Driving around Manitou Springs and looking at other hotel options, we were super glad we picked to stay here. I would highly recommend!!
