The Valamar Meteor hotel was in a great location right by the beach and near the old town. The view was nice and the room was clean. Breakfast is also great !! The sunset is beautiful !!

I was sent an email asking me to rate the Valamar Meteor after our first night here. I was at that point a little crotchety and disappointed in our room and the availability of some pudding choices remaining at dinner. Having written MANY reviews in the past I scripted my observations and disappointment and after hitting send seriously thought not much more about it. I mean who even usually reads these things? Well, it seems outstanding customer service does exist in the world and most of it appears to be here! Every effort was made to rectify our hopes and aspirations regarding the room with us given the opportunity to move this morning (believe me, they would have done this day one if there had indeed been any option to do so) AND in addition, the restaurant manager found us at breakfast to chat through our feedback and be able to understand what my comment had related to and how they could make it better. There were no false promises, no obsequiousness, just genuine care from a hotel staff who really want your stay to be outstanding. I feel pretty humbled and want to say thank you staff for looking after us so well and sorry for the initial grump ! Anyone looking for an outstanding stay in Makarska look no further than the Valamar Meteor where staff will do everything in their power to make it as perfect as possible.

Transfer approx 1:10 mins from Split airport … return to airport 1:40mins . Great hotel , very professional and polite staff . Very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel offers a small children’s outside play area and play room indoors . Free table tennis and snooker tables . Hotel location excellent - I mean where else can you sit and get such an amazing view breathtaking … The infinity pool was amazing very large , - cold water pool just what you need when it’s 25’c outside . The side sea view room for 2 people was clean, decorated nicely ,with balcony overlooking the hotel Poole and sea. I would recommend a room nearer the front of the hotel as nearer the back it can become a little obscured deon the balcony in front . September 2025 was a great time to visit Makarska the port is beautiful not so busy and very chilled and peaceful place. Lots to do if you want to go out and about . Tuk Tuk tours to the Skywalk , boat trips to the other islands . We did more chilled holiday , enjoyed the local town and shops . Weather temp was good hot , comfortable 25c one rainy day but the advantages of the hotel is it’s also has a very large indoor pool , sauna you are able to use and if your fancy a treat have a massage or get your nails done.. Sunbeds - lots around the pool and up on another level it’s. quieter area also more larger Balinese beds a bit more shade same level as the indoor pool . Very comfort beds with trees overlooking the beach .. No issues with people reserving towels on sun beds early in the morning. Pool opened at 9-7pm . Towels from the spa desk replace and keep for next day . Great experience . Hotel food - breakfast lots to choose from , we went half board . The evening meals provided a good selection of fish meat , pasta , pizzas , cheese and olives , a fish night they bake bread and croissants. Food always presented well . It can become quite busy at times when you’re quecuing for food but it was okay. Restaurant opened at 6;30- 20:30!. Staff are able to serve you drinks at your table and you can just add them to bill if you wish or pay with bill at reception. The bottles of wines were reasonably priced. The promenade walk takes about 10 mins to the port so turn left as you come out hotel . If you turn right it takes about 30mins to reach the end where is quieter and less amenities …if you struggle with walking there is a ‘fun train ‘ Restaurants - lots all along the promenade / beach and in the old town and along the port - vary in price . So much to choose from . The port restaurants are more expensive to dine in but some wonderful food on offer .. Cave bar - follow the port round until you come to the end of the beach and a white wall . Walk onto the beach and it’s on your left hand side . It’s amazing - so glad we found it . Had a fantastic time at this hotel. The food was one of the best i have ever had. The hotel was spotless and with amazing staff from the cleaners up to managers. The location to old town was a 5 min walk, which was great. The only negative i have is the beds by the pool. It clearly states on the sign that the towels or personal belongings are not allowed to be left on the bed. I think this needs to be monitored a little better by the two men who sit there giving out your towels. We would go there and have to sit at the bar waiting for a bed to come available as all the beds were taken with towels and no one coming back to these beds until 4 or 5 o’clock in the evening . Surly they could walk around and if no one had come back to these beds in 1/2 hour then they should be removed to make room for people who are waiting for beds. The beach in front of the hotel was absolutely rammed in August so didn’t venture there. But other than that would definitely recommend this hotel.
