A great getaway from urban cities to be in the nature. This homestay is also near to Papa Eatery which serves amazing pizzas if you crave for western food after having all the delicious thai food."

Afternoon tea is served in your room upon check-in, and in the evening, a traditional Thai BBQ set is ready – a truly blissful experience in the cool mountain air. The service was exceptional; the manager, Khun Aom, is lovely, kind, friendly, and incredibly helpful, making you feel like you're staying at a relative's house. We didn't want to leave! If you're planning a trip to Doi Chang, be sure to add this to your list. This trip won't just be a relaxing getaway, but a collection of wonderful moments you'll want to share."

"Seven of us booked three rooms simultaneously and had a wonderful three-day, two-night stay. The view was truly romantic, and while the pool wasn't as impressive as I'd expected, the staff's overwhelming friendliness and service more than made up for it. Laundry wasn't available, but in the spirit of "Pingpung," I inquired and was met with a wonderful staff member who offered to do the laundry by hand. I was deeply touched. If I ever visit Doi Chang again, I'll definitely return here."

"The place is surrounded by a lot of natural scenery and is next to a forest. Even in the summer, the air is cool and pleasant at night, the sky is clear, perfect for stargazing. However, the sounds of insects in the forest are loud throughout the night and morning. If you want solitude and privacy, this is recommended. However, it's quite far from convenience stores, so you need to bring all your own food. They do have delicious rice porridge in the morning. You can borrow a motorbike to buy groceries, but you need to be a skilled driver as it's a hilly road. It's also close to a famous cafe with a beautiful view."

"The staff were helpful and provided good service; they even replaced a faulty hairdryer. The view was great, and despite the strong winds during the rainy season, the atmosphere was pleasant. However, the bed wasn't very clean – there was dust and gecko droppings. Even with the lights off, insects would crawl onto the bed. I couldn't sleep soundly all night due to itching, possibly exacerbated by the rainy season. We booked two rooms, but the water heater in one of them wasn't working. We informed the staff, but it was never repaired. Rooms should be thoroughly inspected for cleanliness and readiness before guests check in."

"It was indeed a leap of faith for me to book 3 Selena Villa rooms for 6 adults in my family. There wasn't any past reviews on Tripadvisor (My honour to be the first) but gauging from the photos on their website, we took a chance and was definitely glad we did. It simply surpassed all our expectations! The hotel (Joe) kindly arranged a van transfer for us from Chiangrai Airport (and also subsequently onwards to Chiangmai). The ride took just over 1 hour and road conditions were good. Some roads in Doi Chang were narrow but they did not pose any issue. The hotel (with individual chalet huts) were beautifully designed with ample privacy, lovely interiors which were very clean and well maintained (looked so new). The bathroom was even equipped with a Japanese style warm toilet seat with bidet and the room had a Dyson hairdryer too. Bathtubs are within the bathroom next to a full height glass window which offered gorgeous views of the outdoor hills. For some units, the bath tubs are situated outdoor in the balcony area. We were all mesmerized by the captivating green environment and natural hill setting. We could hear birds chirping outside in the morning. For breakfast, it was a delightful spread (both Western and Thai) and in the afternoon, a lovely high tea with pastries was set up within the room. There were 5 choices for dinner (hot pots or BBQ) with ample meat and vegetables, eaten in the open area with a setting sun backdrop. This was indeed a wonderful experience. Marshmallow toasting at campfire pit can be arranged too. All 3 meals are included in what we paid for our stay. The hotel has a car service to transport us to Yayo Coffee Cafe (owned by a co-owner of this hotel) or any other nearby places. The cafe owner gave us a demo on how to brew special coffee and explained how the beans were dried and aged in the plantation. It is a beautiful modern cafe also with fantastic views and we had complimentary coffee drinks there. We also visited the macademia farm nearby. We stayed from 2024 through to 2025 and witnessed some sporadic fireworks. Thanks to all the staff at Bala Villa for their wonderful service making our stay a memorable and comfortable one! I highly recommend Bala Villas to anyone who plans to visit Chiangrai Doi Chang."

"I give 5 star for location and view of this residence. view of residence is absolutely facinating but other not value of your money. 1 star for the facility i think it low level and no taste class compare to money i spend it not valuable the residence give a full option of facility such as shower with water heater , air purifier , bedsheet and also decoration is low taste compare to price, i think if price is reduce like around 5K is acceptable but price is too high in my feeling. the facility have taste just only speaker that residence use marshall but other is very low taste but useable if you are not serious on it."

"I found this a very cozy small hillside cottage hotel that gave me all I needed. I was on a bicycle trip and needed a good accommodation for 2 days in Mae Suai. I guess this is possibly the best place to stay near town. The buildings are not the newest any longer but clean and well maintained. Service was a bit shy but very friendly. Very different to the comments of John C in this review, I actually enjoyed their food a lot. Breakfast is simple but their menu list has plenty of good Thai food for lunch and dinner and I enjoyed all of them. Also the pool was absolutely clean, the water temperature just right. A pleasant experience all together"
