T Story Maekampong

This is an excellent choice for Mae Kampong. The grounds are exceptionally beautiful, and the room itself was very good, as was the food. Across the street is some public land where you can enjoy a nice walk along a very nice stream. Note, however, that you'll need a car to get to the center of the small town, which is about 5 or 6 kilometers away.

On the way down Mae Kampong, we decided to stop at the restaurant of T-Story Resort for lunch. The resort was newly opened and looked interesting. The 5 of us were the only ones at the restaurant. So, it was not exactly busy. Our Thai guide did the ordering, so there was no problem with language. 4 of us ordered sea bass. After a fairly long wait, our "orders" arrived but they were salmon. After some discussion, the restaurant offered to charge us at the price of sea bass. It might seem like a good deal, about 20% off, except that one of us actually did not like the taste of salmon. But in the interest of time, we accepted the offer. Naturally, that one person left quite a bit of salmon uneaten. The food was not great but not bad. A bitter taste came when we made payment. The restaurant claimed that they had given us 50% discount which was not true. First of all, we were simply paying the price of items that we had ordered. Secondly, the price difference was about 20%, not 50%. Thirdly, we would have much preferred that the restaurant had gotten our orders correct and none of us had to eat something that was not liked.
