NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT PERMISSION FOR THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT in the manner described on the application and shown on the accompanying plans and drawings is REFUSED for the following reasons: 1. The application provides insufficient evidence to demonstrate that the public house is no longer required, can no longer be viable or that the facilities offered by the Stanley Arms would be reasonably available elsewhere in the vicinity. Furthermore, the application fails to demonstrate that alternative uses to meet community needs have been considered. The proposal is therefore contrary to Core Strategy policy HC4, Development management policy DMS2, and the National Planning Policy Framework. The loss of a valued community facility would fail to respect the statutory duty placed on the National Park Authority to address the social and economic needs of the National Park's communities contrary to policy GSP1 of the Core Strategy.

Love this place, we keep returning! Sad to see it's closed temporarily, will return again when it's reopen. Warm welcome on arrival, comfy rooms with good food on offer in the restaurant. Setting is very scenic, with easy access to other places in the area.

Stayed with the family for a night and it was an absolute pleasure. The service and food was great and the hosts did everything they could to make us feel at home. While there don't miss a stop at the Cat & Fiddle Distillery that is just up the hill for some gin and whiskey tasting.

Stayed 2 nights here. Our room was lovely, spacious and had a 4 poster bed. En-suite was also spacious with a bath and separate shower cubicle. Very cosy. The owners are amazing. Very very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is superb, from farm to table and very generous portions. The views are breathtaking. Would definitely go back. New owners have great plans ahead which we would love to see in the future.

The parents of my wife stayed here for 6 nights and they had a wonderful time. The room was clean and had facilities for an elderly couple and no stairs! During this long stay there was only one complaint and this was dealt with adequately. One night we had dinner and also this was fantastic at a reasonable price, with excellent vegetarian options. Hosts were friendly and always interested in the well-being of the parents. A great pub with a lovely atmosphere. We're very happy and really hope this historic pub can be saved. Thanks for a great week!

Stayed for one night, really comfy bed and excellent sleep. Nice room and very clean. Great location after long hike. Good beer. Steak and Ale pie was delicious as was the huge breakfast the next day. Hosts couldn't do enough for you. Definitely stay there again and would recommend. Really good price

Paul and Emma have done an amazing job in a very short time to re-ignite a once great old pub and they deserve 100 % for their efforts. Unfortunately the Corporate Suites that own the Stanley Arms called Admiral Taverns have Crapped on them from a great height and let them badly down. Like all Corporate suites in Brexitland when it comes to Decency and integrity They have none, and now a lovely family that really could have made the difference has sadly been badly let down.👎 Do the Right Thing Admiral keep your word and strike a fair deal with these nice people !!!

The room the food and the location were excellent. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. It is a pity that the holding company Admiral Pubs want to close it for housing. The more people who go may help to change their minds and keep an excellent pub in business. Please give your support as we need rural pubs like this.
