Mabi City Centre Hotel

A beautiful, atmospheric hotel where you'll feel transported to a cinematic setting of yesteryear. This hotel is highly recommended. The 1920s Art Deco style is beautiful, atmospheric, and uniquely executed. If you're a film fan (like me), it's a wonderful place to be. A nod to the building's history, a former cinema, adds a lovely touch and twist. I enjoyed a 3-day (2-night) stay at the MABI hotel. The luxurious Canes-themed dining room, the fun mini cinema (with popcorn and gum), the beautiful reception area, the atmospheric Twisted bar, and the black-and-white themed hotel room all play their own unique roles in this cinematic setting. If you pay attention, you'll find all sorts of fun (film-related) details throughout the hotel. The location is also great; situated on a quiet side street off the Markt square in Maastricht, everything is within easy reach. There's plenty to see and do within walking distance. A small note: I didn't experience a surprising wow factor in terms of hospitality during my stay. The staff mostly speaks English. In terms of hospitality and personal attention, this hotel didn't exceed my expectations. But it was good and pleasant. And so it was in terms of location, atmosphere, and interior. In any case: highly recommended if you're looking for something a little different, and especially if you're a fan of films and the rich history of this beautiful building (it's fun to look up the history of this former first cinema in the Netherlands/Maastricht). A nice little detail: the ViewMaster in the room briefly tells the story of the hotel with a wink. ;) I will definitely return to the MABI hotel in Maastricht!
