Riu Atoll-All Inclusive

Having stayed in many Riu Hotels over the past few years, this is the one that really Impressed!! Check in: Not sure why we include check ins at reviews so I’ll just say, if you can make sure to get the SEAPLANE transfer it’s so worth it!!!! Amazing experience!!! Rooms: As with all Riu hotels to be fair, nice and spacious but cleaned everyday. Pools and Beach: The beach is amazing, now I’m sure all Maldives beaches are pristine, and this is no exception!!! Great house reef to snorkel, little sharks to see and plenty of marine life. (What I would say is there is more marine life at other hotels, but still won’t be disappointed) The pool is small but well kept, and plenty of beds. Let’s be honest if ever you go for a beach holiday it’s at the Maldives!!! Island: Absolutely beautiful, fantastic for a morning walk and evening for stunning sunsets! Staff: We have to mention NICO and SUPIN from the bar service, they make your holiday trust me!!! And to AZFAL in the buffet, who keeps your drinks topped up and ensures your meal service is well attended. Food: Slightly contentious, the Buffet for a change is actually the real winner. Great variety, fresh and a real treat!! The two restaurants have a real limited selection which is disappointing, a steak house without steaks….a choice of 1 only but no *****, sirloin, or ribeyes. But what they do offer is really great food. Same for the Italian, barely any choice at all but what you can get is superb. Entertainment: Actually really good!!! Not a Michael Jackson tribute in site!!! lol!! Most nights a live band which is really really good!!! Movie night which we loved (fresh popcorn) and other nights were low key but really well done. Drinks: it’s all about the iced coffee with Bailey’s for us!! Delicious!! Whilst the bar choice is limited, just ask for what you want and they will make it!!! I’d ask for a Long Island iced tea which isn’t on the menu, and it was superbly made. We took dollars but the culture isn’t to tip from what we saw, but we felt they really earnt it but gave you fantastic service regardless!!! A real testament to the staffs attitude!! Our only gripe which is small is that, it’s not quite authentic Maldives, in that the paths are concrete, the excursions are restricted to 2-3 that can only be booked at RIU. No outside involvement allowed. The marine life is a little restrictive compared to other sites, and it’s got a mainstream feel to it, but in that is the security of knowing what you will get I guess!! We will certainly be visiting the Maldives again and this hotel will always be a consideration for sure.

Absolutely 5/5. Staff was friendly, food was good, place was BEAUTIFUL! No problems getting the vacation state of mind going in this environment. Also big shoutout for the tours (snorkling, dolphin watching etc.) those really delivered. All in all 5/5 experience.
