The Lyme Inn

The Lyme Inn is a quaint with friendly employees and clean rooms. They have a restaurant on the first floor. The breakfast that is served is delicious swift homemade apple pie and dishes that are for vegetarians and meat lovers.

We stayed in the cottage. It was very cozy and had good amenities. Every morning there was breakfast in the Inn. It was a nice quiet stay.

One star for Ariana's restaurant, one star for proximity to summer camps in the area, but that's about it. Lyme Inn advertises a delicious breakfast as part of your room price, which is one of the reasons we stayed there-very limited options around offer a morning meal, so it's nice to have it on the property. However, with an 8 AM breakfast start, early risers are out of luck at accessing the breakfast included with their stay. We had to be at our child's camp at 8 AM, so needed to leave the Inn by 7:30. When I inquired about some sort of pre-packaged food for those of us that needed to leave before 8, the disengaged person at the desk informed me there is "sometimes some food out before 8, but don't count on it." No alternative was offered. We ended up going down the street to the Italian market where we purchased day-old pastries to have the next day. I followed up with the owner of the inn-Jack Elliott-to express my disappointment. Not only did he not want to "right the wrong," he told me I should have asked for a "to go bag" and "we likely made food for you that you weren't there to eat so we had to throw it out and it went to waste." It's truly bold to be shamed by a proprietor when you're asking them to help correct a situation that went wrong. Save your money and pick another location. A business like this won't last with unfriendly people like this running it. We will be back to the area annually for camp drop off and will not stay here again.

Beautiful, quintessential Inn! Our stay was warm and welcomed and accommodated every step of the way by the friendly staff. The free breakfast was so much more than your typical continental.. with fresh eggs and bacon, strong coffee, blueberry cobbler, fresh scones, etc etc. We even grabbed a fresh chocolate chip cookie from the counter on our way back from our hike. Beautiful, clean room, marble bathroom, and antique furniture. The grounds were also adorable with Adirondack seating areas, and bright blooming flowers and plants surrounding the property. We will definitely be back!

I loved this Inn. The beds were so comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly. I would recommend this Inn to everyone. The whole experience was wonderful. I wish we could have stayed longer

When, upon checking out, I was talking to the owner, Jack, about how much we had enjoyed our stay, he said that the goal of The Lyme Inn is to feel to guests "like a warm, comfy sweater;" well maybe a sweater is not most apt metaphor at the height of July heat, but certainly the comfy part applies. The Inn is lovely with beautiful gardens and obvious attention to detail. And the restaurant, Ariana's, is first-rate. But the owner and staff are the very best part. Hillary, who prepares the breakfasts, is not only a terrific baker (I awakened to the aromas of her freshly-baked confections wafting up to our bedroom both mornings we were there), but also makes herself available to each guest at breakfast to see what she can do to add to the delicious experience. And Jack was a smiling presence every time we passed the front desk, interested in why we were visiting and happy to share information about the area. I highly recommend the Lyme Inn -- a truly delightful experience!
