Location is good and the visitor card provided by the hotel is pretty useful. Recommend the Japanese restaurant right next to the hotel.

Convenient location and amenities. The room is small and not a lot of space for large bags but that’s to be expected. Overall cool experience!

Was a very good experience for both me and my wife. The location is very close to the station. If anyone is coming from the station and taking a taxi, make sure to take an uber as normal taxis are double the price. Check-in process is very smooth, and the staff are excellent. Not sure about his name but he guy at the reception was so very kind and helpful and gave so many great tips on what to do, where to go, etc etc.. make sure to buy your pilatus tickets from the hotel as you get a 10% discount, which you would not get if you buy direct or through other apps. Rooms were clean, bed was nice and cosy, and they had some sort of a fan which was good enough for the hot weather. Overall, if we come back to Lucerne, we will stay here for sure.

We have mixed feelings about Barabas Lucerne. Pros: Love the concept of a former city jail being turned into budget accommodation (budget priced for Switzerland) Spotlessly clean Lucerne is beautiful Friendly staff Comfortable small beds Good location Cons: No ventilation in the room. One small window that was very high and closed No air-conditioning in the room Very noisy with screaming teenagers when we were there. Very small rooms Poor room design. No storage. Sharp metal corners on the beds Shower is small and awkward, but good flow of hot water. Summary Clean accommodation suited to single, budget-minded backpackers. Very Instagram-friendly. A lot more thought could have gone into the room design. Has great potential.

It was a great experience to stay here. Location not far away from Luzern train station. Just have to walk across the bridge while enjoying the Chapel Bridge. Then a bit walk along the street and shops to go to this hotel. Excellence service from the front staff. I meet 3 different staffs along the stay and all of them are very nice and helpful. They even gave the map for interesting places around Luzern. 1 lady help us to call our next hotel using her private phone. Appreciate that much. Kettle and microwave can use from Japanese restaurant under the hotel because they work together. Nice experience staying in prison room. They also have free luggage storage room. Would really recommend to stay here..

Location a bit far from then train station. Breakfast consider quite good spread, counter service ladies good, help a lots on direct or recommend area visit and dinning restaurants (we had a super great cheese fondue meal)!

We had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were courteous. The room was clean. The breakfast which was included in the price was well worth it with a good selection and variety of food. The family room is quite cramped with not much space to keep/open the luggage but for a short stay it is fine. The location is good and at the price point it is a great find. The only issue if any is that we expected the washroom to be outside of the room (the booking page stated external private washroom). This would have been fine but the washroom walls are not fully opaque. So if you are not staying with family might be an issue because people can see your silhouette when you are showering. Apart from that we had a great stay.

The hotel name says it Barabas means bars so it was a jail before and now they use it as hotel. I didn’t know first that it was a jail before but when i stayed u can see its more like a jail because the window the on top and bathroom is very small and no cupboards in the room which was disappointing. Stay was okay.

Overall, it was worth paying. Receptionists are kind enough. Nothing special than other hostels which is the good part. There were 4 out of 6 people in the room. The location is about 10 minutes away from the main station so if you have lots of luggage, you should be aware of it. They said they have a hair dryer in the bathroom but it doesn't and it required me to deposit a certain amount of money to get a private one at the reception. They didn't notice that to me when I checked in. So I was extremely confused until I got the idea.
