The Feathers is well located in the centre of Ludlow and is an old building that is full of charm. However, this also means that it is a bit of a rabbit warren inside, making it challenging to find your way around the long, branching corridors - a definite nightmare in event of a fire. The carpark was full when we arrived, despite it being much larger than I expected, but there was a council carpark behind the hotel and only a short walk away, which was free from 6pm to 8am, which is very convenient. Our bed was large, clean and comfortable and the room was well resourced: tea and coffee making facilities with a wide range of teas and milks; complimentary canned water in the mini fridge; iron and ironing board; plenty of sockets including USB, at the bedside and a variety of products in the bathroom, though no toothpaste which was the one thing we'd forgotten to pack! One of the spoons was dirty, hence only 4 stars for cleanliness. The guest wifi was strong and easy to access. We didn't have time to use the reception areas downstairs, but they looked beautifully presented and were full of character, offering a very attractive space to have a drink or meal. Staff at reception were pleasant and professional.

We stayed for 3 nights and had breakfast each morning. Upon checking in we discovered that we have been upgraded to a Junior Suite which was fantastic! The room was so spacious and beautifully decorated. We have a king size bed at home but this bed was so much bigger and very comfortable too. The bathroom was modern and also nicely decorated with his and hers sinks. The room was serviced everyday and it was spotless. The whole hotel was very clean and looked after. The cooked breakfast was tasty and a good portion plus you could help yourself to a continental buffet. The car park was very tight to navigate but we have managed to get a space each time we needed it. A great stay altogether and we will be booking it again next time we are in the area.

Good dinner and breakfast. Friendly, efficient service. Comfortable, quiet room. Rather expensive accommodation.

The hotel is stunning from the outside with cosy spaces downstairs and polite staff, we even got a call a few days before to see if we needed anything. The room was a little on the snug side for 2 grown men and it was really hot. That meant we had to have the windows open which means we were woken by all sorts of early morning street noise from the main road outside. Breakfast felt like they were understaffed, you had to book a time slot even though there was plenty of space. The full English was tasty but unfortunately everything felt like it needed a good clean, dirty crockery, cutlery and sticky tables which took the shine of something which was nearly £20 per head. As a result we didn’t bother having it on the second morning and grabbed pastries from the local Tesco instead. No doubting the place is well located - just moments from the towns attractions, 5 minutes walk to the train station and it’s only 30 minutes or so from Church Stretton for walking the Long Mynd if that’s on your to do list.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. We booked thinking it would be a special experience, and had heard many comments from people who had been a long time ago and told us how wonderful the place was. Sadly, based on this experience I would say not any more. The rooms are small, which I personally don’t find a huge problem, but they are also, at least in late August, unbearably hot. A fan is provided, which I had to leave on all night, and even so, it was difficult to get a good night sleep. Would you want a glass of cold water to refresh you, renounce, for the quirky design of the tap makes it impossible to get cold water, an idiocy I had never seen anywhere else. The duvet were thick winter duvets, which didn’t help. The bar food is reasonable, but the restaurant food is expensive and frankly mediocre (the worst bread and butter pudding I ever had, by a long mile). Breakfast is sort of premier inn standard. The dining room was left in charge of two youngsters, one excellent, one not suited for this job. Everything taken in, a disappointing experience, even more so because the building is absolutely wonderful and one feels something really good could be done with this place.

Overpriced hotel with cheaply done up rooms. For 179€ you get a badly designed soulless room with no extras. 4 stars but no hairdryer, no breakfast (!!!) and not even a toiletbrush… blank staff and no smile. Never again!

Our fourth visit to this lovely historic hotel and it didn't disappoint. Excellent staff, food and room. Always enjoy staying here and there's plenty to see and do in Ludlow. Looking forward to visiting again in a few months.

We've stayed at this hotel previously and had a great stay. Unfortunately on this our latest visit there was a bit of a mix up in terms of the type of room we required and the provision of a baby cot. In response to this the staff were really accommodating and very professional and worked hard to correct the situation. We enjoyed another great stay at the hotel and enjoyed the full English breakfast which was really good.

The room we stayed in was so well equipped, beautifully presented and an absolute comfortable stay. Modern, stylish and clean. The breakfast the following morning was faultless, with pastries, toast, fruit and cereal to begin with and we opted for the Full l English, no complaints there. We unfortunately could only stay the one night, due to our own commitments, but would have loved a second night here. The corridors and entrance are full of character, and charm. Loved it all.
