Nader's Motel & Suites

This was our first time staying here. Great location and the room was very clean. Having a kitchenette was nice, although it could have used more utensils and some glassware - there were no drinking glasses or real coffee mugs (paper only). Bathroom did not have a sink in it, so you had to brush your teeth and wash up in the kitchenette. We found the woman working in the office to be very rude. It felt like we were bothering her when we checked in and out. My parents were with us and had their own room. We could not figure out how to turn the heat on in their room, so my mom had to go ask her for help. She was completely irritated that she had to walk over to their room, but then she even had to call someone to figure it out. Not sure I would stay here again.

Our room smelled like cigarettes when we checked in. the staff was very rude and wouldn’t switch our rooms to be next to our family even though we booked all the rooms together with the same last name. They charged us a fee claiming we smoked in our room when we don’t even smoke. Very unprofessional we definitely will not be back

We had a great time on our grand daughters outing, we will be Horseback ready swimming in the pool at the restaurant and enjoying all the facilities here the room was excellent and had lots of room for us to enjoy thanks to Heather at the front desk

I have stayed here many times and had a good experience. Today I needed to cancel my trip due to illness and was told because I didn't cancel more than 14 days in advance, which is ridiculous, they were keeping my $99 deposit. I understood this was the policy but you'd think for a repeat customer you could show some leniency. Plus the person on the phone used a very condescending tone with me like she really didn't care and that's unfortunate.

We have to agree with the negative reviews we have read. We booked for 4 nights , but we’re only able to stay for 3. Having said this we still paid well over $400.00. And we might mention we have stayed her before and so we were returning customers. They would not give us a refund for the last night. In fact we would have a paid a nominal fee for cancellation of our last night if offered. They have proven themselves to be greedy and not representative of the great state of Michigan. In fact Pam was rude, if that was in fact her name. She then had the audacity to ask us if we were going to stay even though there would be no refund forthcoming simply for the convenience of their housekeeping staff. Do not stay here. There are too many alternatives. Read the reviews.

Nader’s is listed as pet-friendly on Travelocity/Expedia, and I made reservations via Travelocity on Friday 8/11 at 9pm for the following weekend's Suds on the Shore event. The next morning I read the confirmation email, which said to call in advance if you are bringing pets. So, I called and they said they do not have any more pet friendly rooms so I would have to cancel. Seemed like no big deal, right? I cancelled. BUT THEY KEPT $288! FOR NOTHING! THEY WON'T ISSUE A REFUND FOR A RESERVATION THAT WAS CANCELLED by the next morning? Absolutely unconscionable! This was a full week ahead of the scheduled stay. I DID NOT STAY THERE. Why did they keep my $288!!!!!!????? I've never been there. THEY REPEATEDLY HUNG UP THE PHONE ON THE TRAVELOCITY/EXPEDIA AGENT WHO CALLED THEM ON MY BEHALF. WHAT KIND OF UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE DOES THAT? 

After multiple attempts Travelocity contacted me apologizing, but said Nader’s refuses to issue a refund, so I’m out of luck. I’m just baffled at how very mean Nader's are being. I don't have $288 to waste and I have to find another hotel. Apparently, this is just a regular business practice for them because you see other reviews just like mine. Management will reply to such reviews with something like, "well, you used a third party website to book" as if that's such a crazy thing to do. It's simply an unfair business practice that needs to be reported as such. Shame on them. Anytime someone can make a reservation, even by mistake, and then cancel it immediately, yet still be charged an outrageous sum, that's unjustified greed and total lack of concern for their reputation.

I think that Nader’s is a greedy nasty business that tries to look like a nice wholesome place - that’s my experience. If you make a reservation and want to cancel it 5 minutes later - say goodbye to your money. This shows a horrible lack of morals and ethics. Such greed. No compassion or understanding at all. This is why it's best to stay in the big chain hotels, I guess. 

My advice is to avoid Nader’s. They do not care about you. They do not care about their reputation. They do care about your money though. And that’s it.

Always wondered about this place and I will wonder no more! We will return sooner than later. This is truly a very family-oriented place with outdoor games, heated pool, bicycles, grills and picnic tables. The staff, especially Pam, were all very friendly and professional. Our suite was immaculate and very comfortable. The grounds are very well taken care of right down to wiping down the vinyl fencing around the pool. Loved the larger refrigerator (most places have one maybe big enough for just a few bottles) and the Tic Tacs by the coffee pot was an added bonus! This way more than met my expectations, especially for an older establishment. Location is perfect! Stearns City Beach is a block away. The state park and Hamlin Lake are just a few minutes drive away.

Total bait and switch bookings. Drove 7hrs and was told we couldn't have the room we booked a month in advance because we had our dog. Specifically booked here because they accept dogs. Never, ever again.
